I bought my DD a gorgeous dress/gown for her BBB/CRT ressies and I have a question. Is there a quick fix to the itchy fabric? As I was putting it on her I was thinking to myself "oh please don't let it be itchy!"...I think the main source of the problem is down the center chest. It's like an insert of different textured fabric and when I felt for myself I can see where it would indeed be less than comfy. I thought about having her wear a little cami underneath but I think she would really get warm and it might show.

I have also posted this on the Theme Park Strategies forum.

You could hand stitch a patch of softer fabric over the "itchy" part.

I thought of that and may wind up doing it. I will have to see if I can do it without it showing on teh other side.

Just cut it large enough to put your stitching into the seam areas in the neckline and the waistband.

They make a fusable material for just that sort of thing, they use it alot in embroidery work for when there is a lot of work done on the area, its usually a white material that is bonded with heat, so you could cut a piece to size and iron it on the inside of her dress. If you go to a fabric store they could help you...if I can think of the exact name of the material I'll post it for you...

I found it...
Its a fusible fabric to iron onto the dress to cover any scratchy areas...
if you google "Cloud Cover Stitch Roll" it will come up for you. Amazon has it, or you can see if a local store has it for you...hope it helps!

Do a test first.
My dd has a dress w/glued-on sequins
I ironed it form the reverse side,
when I flipped it over some of the sequins fell off.
:scared1:

I would not apply heat to the rayon Disney princess dresses. The temp required to activate the fusible "glue" could melt the fabric/net/decorations on the dress.

Fusible is a BAD idea on a mass-market costume. Lots of the trim pieces will be stitched on with plastic thread or glued, and the heat would cause them to fall off. Added to that, on a thin piece of fabric, from the outside you will be able to clearly see where the edges of the fusible layer are applied.

I just have DD were a cotton tank top underneath for her Princess dresses. She has worn them in the summer at home and never complained that it was too hot with that on.

Plus it is a lot easier than sewing, but of course I am not much of a sewer:rotfl:
