Prince Andrew

Probably not, lol

I'm going to ask my family if I can step back from my royal duties for the foreseeable future. :lmao:

Didn't know whether I should hit the funny or sad emoticon
Right? It's all horrifying. He should be sent to the tower without dinner.
In all seriousness, I wonder how much of this was known to the monarchy.
If what the ABC anchor was true, the network was threatened by the palace if they ran her story.

So you have wealth, no real job other than showing up for ceremonial appearances and the ability to travel freely. So you get bored and the next thing you know you can get in all sorts or trouble. It never ceases to amaze me that every person of wealth and or power has skeletons in their closet. What I have found in my 60 odd years on this planet is if you are attempting to do the right things, job, family, etc that you don't have nearly enough time or money to get into the trouble these types do. And the scary thing is that these are the "rulers", be it royalty in England or congress and elected officials in America. No wonder everything is so screwed up!

Don't y'all remember his nickname from back when he was young /wild /dating Fergie? It was "Randy Andy".

No thank you. There's a lot of hate out there towards Meghan Markle because she is of mixed race. I won't let that slide. If the person I asked can't answer why he or she can't stand someone, that says something, doesn't it? Why not just say "I don't like the way she handled this" or "her viewpoint on this issue is against my beliefs". Are we not supposed to ask why when someone states a blunt opinion?

He owes you NOTHING.

I don’t necessarily like Meghan however it has nothing to do with her race. I even enjoyed watching her on Suits. She just doesn’t seem, for the want of a better word, real? It’s like she’s playing a role. She could not have been so naive to realise what she was signing on for when she started dating Harry - I’m certain she knew exactly what her new life would be - anyone who has ever watched the Royal family with any interest knows the scrutiny that the life entails.

And the fact that she has a fortune of a couple of million from her acting days does not necessarily discount an idea of marrying for money or fame. Whilst William will inherit the throne and his father’s estates, Harry was left more from his mother’s estate to try to set him up for the future.

Why would an American care if Meghan is not English or that Harry married someone who is bi-racial? That was quite a leap there.

I used to prefer Andrew to Charles. He just seemed like more of the leader type. Maybe stronger than Charles. But well, I guess Charles is the better man.

I don’t really care one way or the other since I don’t live in the UK so they aren’t really “my” royals but I much prefer Kate over Meghan. She just seems more real. I really like Harry though. He has always been my favorite of the two sons.

The legal age of consent in England and Wales is 16, so engaging in consensual sex with a 17 year old would not be an offence ‘on home turf’ and I don’t think that, in itself, is the reason for Prince Andrew’s ‘punishment’. Maybe it his association with Epstein after Epstein was convicted, but then many other ‘powerful’ men and women continued to associate with Epstein at that time. And of course the Queen herself has hosted and continues to host some world leaders with questionable moral compasses and abysmal human rights records.

You think those girls were “consenting”?

I am not a royal watcher, but it's hard to not come across this family these days - either for Andrew or Meghan. I did not know anything about "Randy Andy" until now - I did not watch the interview, but most accounts that I've read present him as having been unsympathetic towards the victims. That plus the initial thought that the interview would be successful with the answers he had prepared ("I didn't sweat back then" or whatever it is he said) really show how disconnected from our common reality they are. As an American, I am indifferent to the future of the monarchy but fundamentally feel that it has outlived whatever original/historic purpose it had and today serves as more of a cultural connection for people...in an age when we are emphasizing egalitarian values more than ever, the institution feels a little outdated to me. Separate conversation from Andrew, but those were my initial thoughts. Which is why, out of all of this, I was most surprised to find out the Palace has cut off financial support for him; I thought they would have him scale back his duties but he would still be on the payroll.

As for Meghan, I get that some of the reaction to her might be because of her mixed heritage, but I think she's had quite a few missteps and I'm not convinced that race is the most obvious reason she's had a tough time with the press. My family is biracial so my filter is pretty keyed in on that stuff, so her story doesn't get a pass from me.

I sympathise with Epstein’s victims and I also think it is sad that a man who bravely served his country for more than twenty two years as an Officer in the Royal Navy, including active service during the Falkands War should end his career like this. What a heavy heart the Queen must have tonight.
I wonder how many others Epstein will bring down posthumously, if and when other documents and recordings are released.
:sad2: Andrew York is not a victim. By his miscreant behaviour he authored his own demise, as did everyone else who involved themselves, apparently believing they were above being exposed. The 2nd greatest tragedy here (first being the use and abuse of what we consider to be children as if they were chattel) is that these men of station and privilege, who could have been using their influence and resources for good, instead chose lives of debauchery and filthy indulgence.

I haven't read all the posts on here, but dropping my two cents into the mix. I totally believe that Andrew is a perv. I'm sure he thought he was above the law and could do anything he wanted. Fergie was known for getting around back in the day. Remember the toe-sucking scandal? Ew.

I'm sure Andrew is just as into that scene as she was.

Just saw on the news his offices in the palace have been closed. I'm sure they won't publicly scorn him, but I have to think his Mother is pretty disgusted and disappointed.

Yesterday the BBC caught a picture of Andrew and his mom out riding horses with 2 body guards. I was more impressed that his mom was on a horse riding, but nothing like bonding time with mom when they both know he is going to be indicted by our FBI. Can he stay in England and claim clemency and not return to the US?

That’s exactly what I thought.
Those royals are pretty hearty stock. :rotfl:

Now we know why the sussexes are running from the Royal Christmas and doing their own thing, would want to deal with that family stress.
