Primeval Whirl

I went on PW this past May. I figured I would like it since I like the tea cups and there were only a few small drops (I am not a huge roller coaster fan). Boy was I wrong! I didn't spin that much and I definitely spun slower than when I am on the tea cups, but I felt a bit ill afterwards (the feeling went away after a few minutes though). In addition, there are these hairpin turns for most of the ride. PW was the first time I was really freaking out that the cart was going to jump the track since we were banking those turns hard. Also I found that I couldn't brace myself for the drops and whatnot, because of the way the cart is built, imo. It isn't a ride I am looking forward to trying again.

The whole ride is outside, so you can see if you can handle it or not safely from the ground.

I was really excited to finally go on it.......never again. So rough and jerky, just throwing us from one side to the other. Nothing smooth about it. I will skip it next time. Just wasn't anything fun about it that made the hurling about worth it.

There is spinning, but its not like constant spinning like the teacup ride for example. At some points you'll spin and then stop spinning. I would say that if the back problems are serious don't ride it, because this ride does jerk you around quite a bit. When it's just my mom and I and we have to ride with two other people, I'm always afraid I'm going to like fall on to their lap or something.

I like this ride. A lot. But, for the type of people you're going with it doesn't sound like it'd fit them.
:)

Could someone who has ridden the Primeval Whirl please tell me what it is like? One member of my family has been known to get sick on spinning rides and another has back problems. Is there a lot of spinning and sudden stops and gos on the ride? We are really looking forward to this trip and would hate for this one ride to ruin all the other magic. Any input from experienced visitors to AK would be appreciated.

Definately do not do this ride! It is very jerky and does have some spins but not continuously. We spend the ride trying not to get whipped around-not fun at all for us!

My DD likes it but my DH and I cannot handle it. The Primevil Hurl made us dizzy and nauseous. We love EE and ToT and RRCA though.

Another vote for passing it up. I ended up with so many bruises on my arms and even two on my back. I don't even remember the spinning being an issue but it is SO jerky it really roughs you up.

The same exact ride is at our state fair. It's called the Crazy Mouse. For what it's worth, the fair version is better as it doesn't SMELL. The WDW version has a lot of padding and since the ride is outside, it tends to mold easily. I'll never ride it again. We had to go straight to the restroom and wash up afterwards. It was horrible. The fair version is totally FUN though!

i LOVE this ride, but only once per trip for me! a LOT of spinning and jerky, getting thrown around, stopping and started. i won't put any of my kids on it - not worth the risk of them being sick all day!

Got sick-feeling and dizzy JUST FROM WATCHING DD7 as she hitched a ride with another family. Didn't even phase her, though!

I usually can't take spinning rides...but this one was ok for me. The best way I can describe it is..

The spinning doesn't occur too much..and it feels like you are on The Whip. You know the old fashion ride the whip? When you spin on this..it feels like when you whip around the ends of "The Whip"!

Everyone's already pointed out the reasons, so short answer: don't do it.

Me & my friend rode it second thing at AK & when it was spinning it stopped a lot during mid spin & that kinda hurt a bit. The coaster part wasn't bad though, overall it wasn't that bad.

We hated this ride! DH and I don't have back problems and both our backs were aching after this ride. We felt like we had been beat up and said "never again!". DD7 was on the ride with us and she didn't like it either. We couldn't wait for it to be over! DS16 & DS12 didn't mind it so much.

A lot of jerky movements and turns...I do not usually mind spinning rides but with the spinning and jerking both, I thought it was too much.

It spins and stops, it turns and drops. I like it a lot, but it doesn't sound like everyone in your group would want to ride it.

If you have back problems or are prone to getting physically ill on rides, you should definately skip this one. If you do not get motion sickness, for goodness sake ride it! This is DH favorite ride (besides RRC). He laughs from the moment we board to the moment we strp out of the car.

I LOVE the Primeval Whirl I can't wait till DS is tall enough to go on with me!! Hopefully at that time I will still love it.

I agree with most of the other posters to skip this one. I typically don't mind spinning rides at all, but I had to stop when I got off to get my footing. Also, as far as the back problems, I would definitely count it out. I have chronic back pain, but it's not irritated by any of the other rides that recommend not riding if you have back pain, but PW is really jerky and could cause someone with problems more severe than mine to have a problem.

If the member of your family is really set on riding it, I would have other members of your party ride first and let the other family member know how it was. You and your family would probably be better judges as to how the ride would affect that person.

DH & DS are both sensitive to motion & neither got ill, but both said they never had to ride it again! Why take your chances & possibly ruin the rest of your day, just skip it!
