Primeval Whirl

We had alot of room under the bar once and we were sliding back and forth quite a bit. I am sure that if someone was small enough, they could get under it without really trying. It might also hit them in the head/face and cause some injuries.
My youngest DD is 5 feet tall. She is also disabled and could not really hold herself up with her feet, although she has good upper body strength. We figured the ride was nothing after watching it for a while (after all, she does the teacups without much trouble, what's a little spinning?
She did end up almost under the bar. Her sister, who is 5 foot 6 said it really both of them around and she could see that someone whose legs are not long enough (or strong enough) to brace themselves with their legs would get thrown around even more.
It's LOTS rougher than it looks.

We went on once with a rather rotund guest and my wife, who is not overly tiny, was thrown all over the place. And on the outside seat hanging over the track :scared1:

She was perfectly safe, but I could not imagine my 4 year old nephew in her seat. I'd be holding on to him for dear life!

This is a cool ride but a bit tame for me

My 7 year old met the height requirement and cracked her head very hard during one of the turns. Even though she's tall enough, her head was below the padding.

After that, she was petrified of riding anything and it almost ruined our day.

I personally will never ride this ride again. I think it's way too jerky .

I'm so glad to be reading these posts. DD just barely missed getting to ride this and I felt like a bad mom all afternoon. I think I was more disappointed than DD. She was wearing shoes with extremely thin soles. The CM was VERY thorough about checking her height. He said she missed it by a tiny bit. She wore her sneakers on our MGM day and she rode Rock and Roller Coaster w/no problem. I'm not one who advocates stuffing shoes or buying platform heels to get on a ride, but she was soooo close. I wouldn't want her on anything unsafe though. She rode Mulholland Madness at California Adventures and loved it. I've never understood why the height requirements were so different for the two rides. It did provide a sweet moment, though, because my older DD opted to skip PW since DD6 couldn't ride. And we know she'll be tall enough for sure by our next trip.

I wouldn't say that the turns are just sharp per say - but that the ride is very hurky jerky - i.e. the vehicle makes sudden stops in it's rotational direction - sort of like when you ride the motorcars at the speedway (MK) and your stearing is off and you hit the metal track bar under your car - only five times worse. It's like a brake with no padding. It bangs you around worse than SM.

You don't see too many older people on this ride - or at least not repeat riders.

It's not that great of a ride. Kind of fun, usually has a short wait, but I wouldn't really miss it either. It's similar to an old ride called the mousetrap (or a little like the old 'whip' ride, but with drops).
It seems like it belongs at a park from the past.

I love that ride I laugh the whole time

::yes::

I took my DD#2, niece, and nephew on PW. We laughed so hard, our sides hurt! :rotfl2:

My family LOVES this ride BUT there is a very good reason to enforce the height limit on this one and they do enfoce it! When my youngest was just 48" she came off the ride with bruises all over her chest. The bar hit her right under the armpits. It is a great ride but very rough on your body. It is hard to brace yourself as well. This is one ride I think they really need to be tall enough...no fudging with shoes, no matter how brave the kid.

How much leg room is there on this ride? I'm 6'4 and the only ride that I refuse to do at DL is Autopia since that ride scrunches me up and gives me major shin problems for the rest of the day every time another car hits the one I'm in. My siblings wanted me to go on it with them(youngest is 18) and didn't quite understand when I told them that it was the most painful ride in the park because of my height.

Well, you're a good foot taller than I am. I think there is SO much leg room. It is hard for us short people to brace your legs anywhere because they don't really reach quite far enough.

LOVE THIS RIDE! Start smiling just thinking about it!!

I dunno, i thought this ride was pretty tame. My daughter was hitting the height stick with her hair and they would not let her on. Very strict. Thicker socks would have gotten her on. She was that close. The next day I was able to "lift" her slightly and she got on. She loved it and I never for a second felt she was unsafe. However, I would not do it for Rockn'Rollercoaster which she was afraid to ride anyway...

ITA! ::yes::

Not to slam anyone, but I would never fudge my child's height for the sake of a ride. I'm not an engineer, and I sure don't know about ride design. I have no idea why the restrictions are there, but I'm sure it isn't for the sake of irritating parents and letting children down.

I'm assuming a lot of it has to do with safety and I'm sure a portion of it has to do with legal issues. Neither one do I want to touch with a 10' pole. Maybe it's just me...

There's always next time at WDW to try something out that you weren't able to do the first time. Heck, my 16DD just rode ToT for the first time on this past trip and look at how many times I've been!

You'd be less likely to fly out of RRC, than this coaster. At least in RRC, you have shoulder harnesses; this one has a measly bar.
