Supporting Actor Comedy
Hmmm... I watch all these shows except Two and a Half Men. Of the other nominees, Chris Colfer is a sentimental favorite of ours, but I think he's the least likely to win. All four of the other nominees, Harris from How I Met Your Mother and the three from Modern Family are all excellent, though I'd put Burrell and Stonestreet over Ferguson.
Writing Comedy
I don't like either The Office nor 30 Rock, so that colors my perspective. The pilot of Modern Family was the funniest 30 minutes on television in a decade or two, imho, and if it doesn't win I'll be very disappointed.
Supporting Actress Comedy
Julie Bowen is terribly underrated imho. I suspect Jane Lynch will win, and that's okay with me.
Directing Comedy
Modern Family was great because of the writing. I think Nurse Jackie should win this. I thought the pilot was absolutely masterful, in terms of how it was crafted.
Lead Actor Comedy
I hated Monk, and I really hope they don't get Shalohoub a going-away present. While Matthew Morrison from Glee is my personal favorite, he's really not in the same class with the other nominees. I'm going to guess Larry David wins this.
Lead Actress Comedy
Toni Collette was incredible in United States of Tara, though Edie Falco was also very good in Nurse Jackie. I think, though, that Collette should win, just on account of "in case of tie, give the award to the most improved". grin
Writing Drama
We haven't seen Friday Night Lights yet (we're actually picking it up starting next week on ABC Family), so I can't integrate it into my guess. I think there is going to be a lot of pressure for Lost to win, and I hope it does. While there are two Mad Men nominations, I think Mad Men was a bit off last season (and this season).
Supporting Actor Drama
Hard to say. I'm pulling for Michael Emerson.
Supporting Actress Drama
Tough to call this one too, though I think it'll be down to Byrne versus Baranski.
Lead Actor Drama
Michael C. Hall should beat Cranston and Laurie (though again I can't know where FNL's Chandler fits).
Directing Drama
Another one where Lost might get some recognition, but in this case I don't think it would be warranted.
Lead Actress Drama
I would like to see Sedgwick win this.
Outstanding Drama
Another category where Lost could make up for being snubbed so often in the past, but i think Dexter should win this. It would be cool, though, if True Blood pulls an upset.
Outstanding Comedy
If Modern Family doesn't win, I'll be both disappointed and shocked.
