To us, there is absolutely NO COMPARISON! Primetime is fantastic. Sci Fi has good desserts, and the atmosphere is fun, but the food, for the price is mediocre at best.
I voted for Prime Time, although we like them both. Sci-Fi, to me, is more a casual, burger and shake kinda place; I wouldn't order a 'dinner-type' meal there. Prime Time, on the other hand, is great for a sit-down real meal. Maybe you could do a lunch at Sci-Fi and dinner at Prime Time; that's what we frequently do!
I have to go with primetime here. I thought sci fi was cute, and a really fun idea, but the food didn't impress me much. On the other hand, everything about Primetime makes it a Must-Do during each and every one of my trips to Disney. Often I'll do Primetime twice during a visit. From the moment you walk in and take a seat in the "living room" while waiting for a big brother, sister or cousin to seat you right up until you leave, every moment is fun. And the food is absolutely fantastic! Love the fried chicken!
I have to agree with most of the others here -- voted for Prime Time.
While I enjoy SciFi (especially the cookies and cream shake!!!), I think as a mainly "burgers and fries joint", it can't match up to Prime Time food-wise.
Oh yeah, and the PB&J shake at Prime Time is better (not by much!) than the cookies and cream at SciFi.
I think of Sci-Fi as a sandwich place & Prime-Time as more of a dinner type meal place. Having said that, we prefer Sci-Fi - fabulous fries. Actually at Prime-Time, I don't really like the waitress asking if we washed our hands or nagging us to eat our veggies. Lots of folks really enjoy it I know, it just kind of bugs us. Prime-time has great meatloaf!
I had the worst chicken at Prime time it tasted like it had spoiled and they cooked it anyway I could not eat it and the "cousin" did not even ask about it but asked why I didn't eat my green beans. But overall the atmosphere was ok "cousin" did joke around a little but not as much as I expected and I was trying to egg her on. The dessert was great and so was Sci-Fi's.
I HATED Prime Time! I was looking forward to it so much but I found it not so good. It was very embarrassing to me. I can't wait till I go again so I can try Sci-Fi. I heard it was very good. Can't wait!
Prime Time has the best atmosphere as far as I'm concerned. I love that the wait staff usually get into their roles, the food is like home cooking, and the desserts are delicious
Prime Time is by far the best! The food is good, the interaction is great, the atmosphere is OK but overall, it is much better than Sci Fi. I never could get the attraction for Sci Fi. It is fun to go once just to see it but that is enough. The food isn't that good and is very overpriced.
We ate at PTC for the first time in June and loved it!! The food was really yummy and Cousin Christopher was so much fun. So far most of the things I have read about Sci-Fi suggest visits for desserts only so we haven't tried that yet.
Another vote for Prime Time! We have been to Sci-Fi twice, but probably won't be going back. It was "ok". Theming is unique, but it's the same old, same old burger food. The second visit was the same as the first. However, every trip to Prime Time is different! A must for us!
Have been to the Sci-Fi several times and absolutely loved it! NO complaints! As for the price--everything at Disney is a little pricey--but, hey, you're on vacation, live a little! We have never been to the Prime Time but with the reviews I've just read we might try it out! Thanks!
well, i think it all depends what you are in the mood for that day.
I was craving a burger one day (which I rarely do as I'm not a big meat eater)...the burgers at Sci-Fi were honestly the best I've had on Disney property. I cleared my plate. my hubby and I split a chocolate shake...so yummy. (this was our first visit to the Sci-Fi and I'm really glad we went...oh, and the people in front of us had onion rings that looked to DIE for!)
prime time is good if you want something more than a 'burger'. hubby enjoys 'home cooked foods' (ie - stews, meatloafs) more than me...but I believe i had a chicken sandwhich and thought it was great. (along with the chocolate shake - hey, I'm on vacation and doing alot of walking! heheh)
being that it was just the two of us (2 young adults)...not too much in the way of interaction at primetime...but we get a kick out of the larger groups with children getting picked on!
I think both places have their merits...it just depends what mood you are in I think.
I voted for PrimeTime because the food is better. Also the decor is (intentionally) eerily similar to what we baby-boomers grew up with, and they have calendars on the wall from my birth-year!
That said, Sci-Fi should not be missed. If you had to pick only one and you would never go back to MGM, I'd say go to Sci-Fi for the experience. The burgers are good, and that's all we ever get there. Our boys are asking to go back to Sci-Fi. It is overpriced though.
