(laughs in GenX) I think it's a bit naive to think that ratings, especially when tied to TV/movies shown on streaming services will stop kids from watching them. Sure it's info for parents, but if kids want to watch it they will, one way or another.

I saw the OP as giving information for parents. I could imagine parents thinking that because it's Spiderman, it will be great/safe family viewing and then realizing they were wrong. The rating gives parents a heads up, which is what they are supposed to be for. If a kid wants to watch it, they will find a way to watch it whether or not they are allowed.

With a different series that was TV14 parents were still shocked that there was sexually suggestive dialogue/innuendo and that the series not appropriate for little/younger kids.
