Prices in Copenhagen

a dcl rep was walking down the cab line asking of anyone wanted to take the shuttle for $8. I had to get in another line (20 minutes) to get shuttle tickets. Ask guest services/excursion desk while onboard if you can book the shuttle to city center. I never looked into what the price would have been in advance. Maybe $8 was the standard rate, or maybe it was discounted for those handling their own baggage and they happened to have extra buses commissioned? It dropped off right across from train station. train to CPH is as stated above-super easy and economical--I'm sure faster than taxi--we have always taken the train.
We found food to be $$$, thus, we grabbed a picnic from grocery store for one meal. There is a small grocier a block down the street to the left if facing Tivoli from train. Also a few cute eateries down that street (including large Irish pub), walking towards city center.

How do you get added to a Disney shuttle once you leave the ship? My flight is later in the afternoon and I was hoping to maybe wander a bit in Copenhagen before heading to the airport. I'm even looking into packing light so I can keep my stuff with me once I leave the ship.

There are shuttles from the port to various hotels around the city. You can get added after you leave the ship and then get off near the train station which is right across from Tivoli Gardens. I believe the closest hotel is the Radisson Blu - not positive, though. Most train stations in Europe have luggage lockers. Not sure about in Copenhagen. You could google it. Sorry for not being super helpful.

My husband and two daughters (ages 11 and 9) stayed at the Charlottehaven in Copenhagen for 3 nights before taking the Northern Europe cruise in July 2016. It was difficult to find a room for a family of 4. Many of the hotels I considered would only sleep 3, and even those that were supposed to hold 4 did not appear to have enough beds for us to sleep comfortably (my daughters are very tall for their ages - if you have bigger kids, be sure to check on bed size). When we realized we could have a 2-bedroom apartment at Charlottehaven for only a little more than a tiny room with one large bed and a very small sofa bed, we decided to give Charlottehaven a try. It had glowing reviews on TripAdvisor. I booked directly through the hotel.

We loved it. It was nice being in a residential area that was an easy 5-10 minute train ride to the heart of Copenhagen. We loved having the extra space, especially the two bedrooms, which came in handy when battling jet lag. They had a restaurant but breakfast was not included in our rate. We did, however, have a nice kitchen in our apartment with plenty of grocery stores nearby if you wanted to cook in. The first and last night, we just grabbed a relatively cheap (but tasty!) pizza at a place around the block that the hotel recommended (Sam's, I think). We got drinks and ice cream at a market across the street and ate at the table on our balcony overlooking a cute courtyard (with playset for younger kids). It was also a quick and relatively inexpensive cab ride from the cruise ship terminal - maybe 10-15 minutes. The hotel staff was extremely helpful with trying to track down our luggage that British Airways lost (it arrived about 8:30 pm the night before we left on the cruise - we were lucky we'd flown in 3 days early). I'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

I also recommend checking out the Copenhagen Card. It includes admission to many of the sights you'll want to visit (including Tivoli Gardens) plus it covers all transportation.

Do you happen to know if the shuttle ran the day you debarked too?

We will be on the EBTA and porting at Langolinie. I'm trying to find the easiest way for us to get 2 adults/3 younger kids to central station with luggage. The day we debark there will be 6 cruise ships (I think around 4k passengers total) so I don't want to count on a taxi. I've heard bus 26 picks up at Indiakaj and goes near Central Station but I'm not certain if it runs on Sundays when we debark.

We stayed in Copenhagen for 3 nights pre cruise, and 3 after. With 2 young kids (4 and 1 at the time),separate space was a priority for us. Few hotels that i looked at had family rooms and those that did were small and expensive. In the end I booked europhauset luxury apartments for the pre cruise part. They are on the top few floors of the dan hostel. Very central location, and suited our needs perfectly. After the cruise we stayed in Copenhagen apartments (in vesterbro). Still not too far from the city centre, but also close to the zoo, carlsberg museum, and the cisterns. Both of these I booked via booking.com

Copenhagen is really easy to get around by bicycle- cycle paths everywhere. We rented a Christiana bike (they have a pod in front for the kids to sit in). This was a great way to see loads when traveling with small people!

As others have noted, Copenhagen is expensive, but we did loads that didn't cost much. The kids play areas in residential areas were fabulous. The national museum has free entry and has a great kids play area. I would also recommend that you check out Copenhagen street food in papiroeen. We ate there twice. Loads of different food to try, and not too expensive (by Copenhagen standards).

I don't see the national museum mentioned very often when threads about Copenhagen crop up. It was one of our favorite things we visited when we were there. We only spent about three hours at the museum, as we wanted to see Rosenborg Castle that day as well, and it really wasn't enough time to do it justice. While we were there (June 2015) they had a temporary exhibit about the Swedish white buses during WW II that was fascinating and very thought provoking. This museum is just very well done, all around, and has exhibits from all over the world. I'd love to go back and spend a day there. Highly recommend this!!!!

ETA - this was one of my son's favorite things as well. He was 17 at the time and is a history buff, and he didn't want to leave. He would have gladly forsaken touring "another castle" for more time at the museum.

I looked at the website again and it jogged my memory - I actually filled out the "enquiry" form on their website and then they emailed me in the first instance. All of our other correspondence was by email after that. If you didn't do this and if your other place doesn't work out, you might try that route.

We will be on the EBTA also. On the Langelinie there won't be 6 cruise ships. Only 2 will be there. The other cruise ships have an other quay. There is a public transport stop of bus 26 at the Langelinie. You can travel with this to a station where you can take the train to the airport. Since we arrive one day earlier you can always figure out how to travel the next day.

Yes, but there was a bit of a wait for them. We needed two as we had a group of 7. We could have waited longer for a bigger vehicle but we decided to split up.

We were lucky as our friends we were with have family that lives in Copenhagen so they walked us around everywhere. They were our own personal tour guides!!! We also took the hop on and hop off bus. Of course I had to stop at the Disney Store!!
