Has anyone named their price on Priceline and had good luck? If so, what did you request and where did you end up?

I would like to give it a try to save some cash for our upcoming DL trip, but I am nervous about what I am going to get.

Study betterbidding.com thoroughly before doing any bidding. That way you can, with the clues they give (though do this do this with name your price?), have a solid idea of what hotels you might get.

Which is especially important b/c many of the nicer hotels on priceline and hotwire have parking fees that are hefty, and priceline/hotwire don't tell you the cost of them!

Biddingfortravel is busier. People are more savvy on it as well. I wouldn't bid for anything more than $45 for the highest star rating but I don't know your dates. Hmm the link doesn't seem to be working--it's biddingfortravel.com

We did Priceline for our Disney trip last time and I wouldn't do it again. The hotel was nice - it was the Doubletree. I'm not sure of the exact location of it, but it was within Priceline's "Disneyland" area. It was NOT within walking distance at all, and was more of a business traveler's hotel. You had to pay for parking, pay for internet, no free breakfast, the Disney shuttle only ran once an hour and was too full, so we ended up having to drive in and pay for parking at DL anyhow. By the time you added in all of those extra costs, we should have just picked a hotel we liked close to the park, with free breakfast, parking, wifi, etc.

Anyhow, unless you can get a REALLY cheap deal, I don't think it's worth it for Disneyland. For traveling other places when you don't really care what hotel you end up at, it's great, but there are too many variables I want control over when I go to Disney.

{shrug} We stayed at the Doubletree a couple of years ago and it was really nice. I don't remember paying for parking and we left our laptops at home. The shuttle was only once per hour but we never had a problem with it.

I have also stayed at the Hilton Suites and the Hilton Anaheim using Priceline. I think I paid $45 tops for any of them. I do admit that the last time we went to DL I wanted to be able to walk to the parks so I booked the HoJo at over twice the amount I would have paid using Priceline.

We paid $45/night + fees for our upcoming trip in August for the Holiday Inn Express Garden Grove. 2 miles to Disney and to Angels Stadium for baseball.

It comes with Free hot breakfast and parking.

Please do your research before bidding. We've stayed at the Crowne (hated it), the Hilton and the Marriot. I've never paid more then $48 for a 3.5 star.

I did the Priceline Name Your Own price for a spur of the moment trip last September. I went with the highest star rating (I believe its 3.5 in the Disneyland area) and got the Crowne Plaza. I got a king size bed and don't remember if I had a choice, but since it was just my daughter and I, that was fine. I had stayed there before on my own so knew what I was getting. It's ok but nothing spectacular (but then gasp! I don't think HOJO is that great and that seems to be THE place to stay here on the disboards). I paid $49 p/n but they also charged $12 p/n for a resort fee. I wouldn't do the Name Your Own again since there's too many places that have these "hidden" additional fees. I liked that their shuttle only goes to 2 hotels and ran every 30 minutes...however, their drop off location is the farthest from the park entrance - right next to Harbor. I'm probably not a good evaluator of hotels/motels since all I want is a clean, safe and comfortable place to sleep either within walking distance or with dedicated shuttle, since all I do in the room is sleep....almost every waking moment is spent going to, coming from or being in the parks. :goodvibes. Good luck if you try it!
