I have two rooms at the Swan for July 4th week. I had to call the Swan and it took at least 6 days for them to have my booking in their system. But once the Swan could see it, I was able to link it right away with the number they gave me.

I recently booked 1 night with HW pre cruise for PORR-Mansions (royal term was dead give away :)). Booked for only 2 PP the end of March. Wound up less than value i had booked, $173 all in, i was happy

Did contact HW to verify that we’d receive the Mansions. Took a good half hour on hold, but she verified with WDW we’d be in one of the two standard buildings but with a garden view.

While we were chatting, I inquired as to the problem I read here as to adding children on after the fact; whether calling WDW or requesting the booking agency make the change.

She said they ran into issues when people would book for 2 adults & then request to add children. Often, it would turn out the children were over 10 y.o., identifiable by their MDE accounts. WDW was likely not happy to be lose the extra adult room fees.

Wonder if the extra rates for kids that’s being imposed is a Disney mandated price increase of some sort. Due to those who had caused red flags to fly. Certainly would penalize those who legitimately are just attempting to add their under 10 y.o kids to a HW res

HW has always allowed a 4 person search, PL never has
That’s why I’ve only used PL when just he & me for a quick trip

However, when i searched on HW for the POR room I specifically wanted (2 Q room) I priced it out twice...2 adults & 2 adults + 1 kid under 10 the price was the same.

I'm doing a search for 2 rooms for 4 adults and haven't seen any indication it won't let me do that, is it just 2 per room that's the issue or if I actually go to book will it give me an error?
I had to re-read this, realized you are likely looking for 2 separate rooms. Hope you come back to share how that works out for you, good luck.

A 4* resort can't be Swan - that is a 4.5*.

The only 4* resort in Bonnet Creek with 700 reviews in Dolphin.
Not that is matters now because the OP booked and it was Dolphin but the OP stated the resort was $177 and 4*. I searched for the $177 hotel never noticing the it was 4* and not 4.5*. The $177 hotel is the Swan at 4.5* . Dolphin was $173. That is why I said Swan. 🙂

Ok thx. I have a bit of a buffer but need to cancel my Disney direct ressie soon.

but kids over 10 aren’t charged extra...it is extra guests over 18 that are charged.

Disney doesn’t change for kids in the room rate until they hit 18.

In my 3 ( so far 😂) conversations with WDW, I was told the problem is definitely an issue of adding kids to a reservation - I can’t remember how it was worded to me, but more or less “it’s been going on for years and we finally decided to crack down on enforcing our policy”

It makes me wonder why now. Are there that many 3rd party bookings that require adding kids at any given time?

To Hotwire’s credit, they do say in bold print all over their site that changes to a “hot rate” reservation are not permitted. So it’s not a surprise there’s pushback on adding people (any people) to a reservation. Same as dropping a night.

HW knows Disney’s policy, Disney knows HW (Expedia) policy, and neither are budging. As long as Disney keeps releasing rooms to 3rd party companies, this is going to be the norm. Interesting to see how it all plays out.

Lol a he said, she said sort of thing & it’s the customers that bear the burden in the meantime

17+ sounds much more reasonable. We normally book DVC, so I didn’t catch that when the rep brought it up, sorry.

Now, find myself wondering why the HW rep gave that rationale for what many state are upcharges for the room rate when they price it out including Their kids.

Unless people may deliberately be abusing booking for 4 ‘adults’ via the 2 A + 2 C method & then it’s flagging in the MDE at checkin. IDK

Another opague booking strategy I use when traveling with either a (one) friend or adult DS to Disney (on & offsite properties) is to always select 2 A & 2 C & only select a room option that indicates 2 beds

I know Swan and Dolphin do but these listings say hotel shuttle included so it must be something else.

S/D do not qualify for MDE, so they won't include a hotel shuttle.

I'm staying at the Dolphin next month starting on a Saturday. We fly in on a Friday and I have been looking at HW for a cheap Disney hotel so we can use MDE.

This hotel is in Bonnet Creek area and offers a shuttle. So what are the odds that it's a Disney resort?
I do not care which resort I get as long as it's on property. I do not want to travel with a car seat. So how would I add DME? And park tickets for that matter?

CSR

How likely is this to be CSR?
Not to be flip but unless somebody made a new resort overnight in that area that is 3.5 stars, has an airport shuttle and is rated 4.1 on HW, it’s CSR.
But it’s a blind booking. Ultimately, you pays your money, you take your chances.

I agree it's CSR.

As for tickets, just buy them wherever you want and link them to your MDE if you don't buy them directly through Disney. And once you have the reservation set up in MDE, you can call or book a reservation online for DME.

Another way to reserve a spot on DME https://secure.reservations.disney.go.com/ibcwdw/en_US/dme/dmeform

I've only used DME twice, but both times I used that link.

I think I saw a link to do it on the hotel reservation too in MDE for my most recent booking, but I haven't reserved mine yet since I'm trying to potentially change hotels if I can find a better price.

All great points, but Disney doesn't know you got a hot rate.
I think if you got a standard rate through PL or HW their terms of service would be the same, guest additions are done through the hotel.

I’m curious as to what your dates are?

Does anyone have experience using the HW drawing tool app when booking and/or be able to determine its accuracy? I downloaded the app today and have been messing with it.
Trying to find 5/14 - 5/17 and see one for $132-$134 a night and looks to be in the vicinity of the All-Stars based on the distance to WDW landmarks. It's in Bonnet creek, 3-star, and has an airport shuttle. 4.0 Very Good! rating.

One listed at $124 appears to be Sports and the drawing tool agrees (at least I think it does - unless I'm doing it wrong :)). But the one listed for $132-$134 (app and website differ a bit in price) I cannot find anywhere on WDW property when I draw around the All-Stars area.

Any thoughts of what this hotel might be? I'm definitely aiming for a Disney resort on this trip since I don't want to rent a car since it's just DD and myself. There is no WDW listed for transparent booking so nothing to compare it to.

Thanks so much :)
