Priceline Express Deals

Thank you so much @VAlegacy ! :) I'm going to talk to DD and then decide if I'll pull the trigger or wait it out until a little closer and what else pops up.

(Definitely user error on my part with the tool, back to the drawing board!)

Good stuff. I'm always careful near the edge of the neighborhood. You never know, you might just reserve Bates Motel!

Another way to reserve a spot on DME https://secure.reservations.disney.go.com/ibcwdw/en_US/dme/dmeform

I've only used DME twice, but both times I used that link.

I think I saw a link to do it on the hotel reservation too in MDE for my most recent booking, but I haven't reserved mine yet since I'm trying to potentially change hotels if I can find a better price.
when I made my DME reservation for my upcoming trip, I added my kids that are not (yet) on my room reservation .... however, I have read on the Transportation board that names on the DME reservation must match the resort reservation.

All great points, but Disney doesn't know you got a hot rate.
I think if you got a standard rate through PL or HW their terms of service would be the same, guest additions are done through the hotel.
that's a good point about the hot rate - at least from the perspective of a CM on the phone. the wholesale dept is definitely aware that those booking are cheaper, because one of the CMs I spoke to mentioned that.

before my most current HW reservation, I hadn't used a 3rd party to book anything in about 18 months. at that time, it was not a problem to get them to add the kids ... I did it via chat. it certainly could've been in their terms and like Disney, they just didn't enforce it.

the thing with HW and their immediate response to offer to cancel (and refuse to call Disney) absolutely boils down to money. They lost out on $150 on my booking, why would they help me out now? It makes no difference at all to Expedia/Hotwire or Priceline that Disney doesn't charge for kids, because they do.

I submitted this over the weekend to the Disney help website just trying to get guidance and got the response below:

Hello,
I recently found out that the Disney wholesale department will no longer add guests to 3rd party reservations. I was told by the cast member I spoke to on the phone that this has always been the policy, but is now being enforced.
The 3rd party affiliates, Priceline, Hotwire, etc. all have in their terms of service that the hotel must add guest names to reservations.
Taken from the Priceline website:
"How can I add a Name to my Reservation?
Please contact your confirmed hotel to make note of the additional name on the reservation."
https://www.priceline.com/help-page/submenu/81/91/can-i-cancel-or-change-my-hotel-reservation
My question is:
What remedy does the guest have to add additional people to the reservation, if it is within the occupancy of the room?
Has Disney provided guidance to 3rd party affiliates of this change?
Does the person who's name the reservation is in just show up to the resort and add the additional people there?
How would the additional people take advantage of Disneys Magical express, dining plans, fastpasses, and all other things that are linked to My Disney Experience?
I do not have a pending reservation, but there are a lot of confused people that do.
Thanks for any insight.

Dear Josh,

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World® Resort!

In order to add names to an existing reservation that has been booked through a third party, you will need to call that company directly to have the reservation updated to include the names of any additional guests you want to add to that reservation. Third party companies are aware of this policy. Once the names have been added to the reservation, that third party company will then resend the updated reservation details to our wholesale team who will update the reservation on our side.

The only way for a guest to take advantage of different package components (Disney's Magical express, dining plans, fastpasses, etc) is for their names to be booked on a reservation that is booked with Walt Disney World®, whether booked through Disney directly or booked through a third party.

If you have any other questions or challenges, please do not hesitate to contact us by calling us at 407-W-DISNEY (407-934-7639) or by chatting with us in the Help Center of the Walt Disney World® website (only available on the US site). Cast Members will be happy to assist you further.

Sincerely,

Well, thanks for trying. But that's a frustrating response that doesn't really get at the heart of their conflicting policy with 3rd party vendors. Ugh! How frustrating.

pages ago, I mentioned Edward from WDW wholesale told me that this was new - on a later call, the CM said that it wasn't new but now being enforced. that call was the phone version of the email response ... almost word for word. LOL

so, where does that leave us? just over a week ago, a call (or two or three) to Disney would result in the addition of names to a 3rd party reservation. I'm sure by now there's a big ol' note in front of every phone with the policy written in bold print ;)

what I wish is that Disney would take pity on those of us caught in the middle space between when they were lax and when they started enforcing the policy. It's not going to happen, but I can still wish for it. LOLOL

Yeah, that's a bunch of BS. What I don't get is that the policies are conflicting -- there is literally no real way to get it done the way they're insisting it can be done since PL especially restricts their PLE deals to two people. I guess I'm just not understanding how this will ever be resolved for anyone going forward.

We are seriously considering renting a car (one way, drop off at the Dolphin) which eliminates our need for the DME. That way, we can do our grocery stop and call it a day. I’ll add the kids when we get to the resort.

So is the general consensus of those on this forum that if booking for 2 adults and 2 kids that I should definitely not bother to check Priceline. And for Hotwire, I should make sure that I have the two kids added on and be prepared for extra fees?
I may have just freed up some time in my day if so :)

Only if you need DME. Otherwise, you can just add them at the hotel with no fees for Priceline or Hotwire. At least this is what we've always done since we are local and dont need DME. I've never bothered to call and get them added ahead of time. So if you do need DME then you'll have to compare is it cheaper to pay the fees/rent a car/buy directly from WDW?

Could there be some issue with fastpasses at 60 days if you are not local and your children are not on your reservation yet? That's the only other issue I can think that this might cause.
