Priceline Express Deals

Are these last minute trips that most of you are scheduling (for those finding deals less than two months out)? Or do you have a reservation already in place (to grab FPs and whatnot) and then cancel it for a much lower rate?

And wow, those are GREAT rates for POFQ.

I've done both. I've booked trips on PL two weeks before we were going and I've booked through Disney only to cancel when I found a better deal on PL.

Last minute for us - we are passholders and go often so fastpasses are less of a big deal for us. I would have no qualms canceling for a lower rate though. I’m cancelling AKL that I booked earlier this week in favor of the POFQ deal.

Thank you both... I think that this is the plan that we are going to go with; snag a reservation that, if we have to keep, we can live with, but hope for something "better".

Crazy blind deals alert: for July 3-July 7, I just found French Quarter on Priceline for $103 per night (remember to use the retailmenot 8% off code) Hotwire had Pop Century for the same dates for $82 per night.
If I was guaranteed a 4 day weekend for the 4th I would be researching flights right now! Instead they won't tell us if we are off two days, four days, or working straight through the holiday AND the weekend.

I forgot to mention the dang FOUR SEASONS is also on Hotwire for about $315 a night. I was sorely tempted but frugal heads prevailed - that’s an amazing rate at an incomparable resort if anyone else is interested though.
What dates are you seeing this Four Seasons deal?

Hi Ashley, I was searching 7/3-7/7 this time and that’s when I saw it pop up. It wasn’t nearly as good of a deal if I tried to split it, unfortunately. I was thinking we could do a compromise on-site/ FS split stay but the price just wasn’t right to do it that way.

My apologies... but I've got another question... What are people's thoughts when a hotel says "Only 3 more"... is this accurate or just a marketing ploy? This is for "regular" Priceline, not Express.

Nice find on the POFQ for 11 nights. Dang.

I am seeing what I think is an express deal on Priceline for POFQ for $100 a night. It is for July 20-31. Can anyone confirm this really is French Quarter?
oh yay, off to check my dates then!

ETA: Uggghh, nothing. I tried several date combos as I'm flexible. I just need a few nights, not 11, but late July.

Think I’m going to book Coronado Springs for $162/night on Priceline (not an express deal). I’ve been looking for a moderate, and it’s cheaper than the $180/night I’d get booking through Disney. It’s the cheapest moderate/deluxe I can find besides Caribbean Beach (but I don’t want to stay there) for my somewhat flexible dates of 6/27 to 7/2.
Think I should pull the trigger or wait?

It looks to be refundable up to 5 days before check in so I would book it and then keep checking for a better deal.

If they found something else, afterwards , how difficult is it to cancel a "normal" Priceline deal? Any idea on the timeframe? Debating if I should go with Disney or Priceline for "default" reservation.

If it is a refundable deal you can cancel online very easily. First login to your priceline account, find your trips under profile and then click on itinerary for the stay you want to cancel, then there find the button/click for cancel, press that then on the next page click cancel again. Over the years I've cancelled many booked hotel stays. If the booking starts the 27th then it would need to be cancelled before the 22nd. edit to add: The 5 days before example is for a Disney hotel. For other hotels there are often different cut of days by which you would need to cancel before being charged a fee. They provide you the date by which you need to cancel without a fee on the booking page, so you have this info before you commit to the booking.

I've also successfully cancelled a nonrefundable Disney hotel reservation (not a PE) by asking Priceline to call the Disney wholesale number. A woman at wholesale gave me that tip, she said priceline might go along with it since Disney wouldn't be charging priceline a fee for a cancellation up to 5 days before booking. I would have been ok with the reservation as is but shortly after I booked the nonrefundable one, I found a resort deal I liked better and thought it was at least worth a try to cancel the first one. At first I got nos from the customer service people at priceline (tried chat and also called) but when I called again and mentioned for them to talk to Disney wholesale it went great. I wouldn't count on this working though all the time or with other hotel chains.
