I have been researching for some time for a car rental for the last two weeks of May. The best "mid-size or bigger" rate I found was $375 after taxes using coupons/codes/etc.
I checked on Hotwire and received a rate of $16 per day or $291 it total. With that quote as a backup, I offered $12 per day on priceline which was accepted - $243 after taxes for the two weeks. It is with Hertz who runs a shuttle to their off-site lot a few minutes away just north of the Bee-Line.
I know that some people are hesitant to use Hotwire/Priceline due to the uncertainty of the rental company. From what I saw, they contract with the big names only: Avis, Budget, Hertz, Enterprise & National.
