Just priced up a cruise for Oct 07, and the price for a 7 night cruise in cat 9 room, worked out at £1800ish, is this a good price or is Virgin a cheaper option.

Not sure what travel agent/holiday company apart from Virgin offer the 7 night cruise.

Is it right in saying if you book via disney the tips are not included.

We were booked on a cruise in 2004 but Frances took care of that and so wish we were able to go. :confused3

I wouldn't say Virgin were the cheaper option, although I'm not sure about the tips being included with Virgin :confused3 I know that if you book direct with Disney, the tips aren't included. There's a good thread on the DCL forum about how much/who to tip.

Have you tried asking Dreams Unlimited for a quote. I just got a quote from them for a cruise in Feb 07 and it was about $300 cheaper than DCL direct :thumbsup2

There are other places that offer cheaper but, personally, I think I would rather book thru' DU or DCL than an agent I know nothing about.

hi PJ

A few things to consider...

Does your price from Virgin include flights ?
Are you only doing a weeks cruise, for your holiday ( or are you staying in Florida longer) ?
Is the price quoted per person and are you going as a couple (or are you taking any children with you) ?

If the answer to the first half of each question is yes, then this may not be too bad...given you will be flying Virgin also. However, if it is a cruise price, per person, only then this seems expensive pirate:

If booking for the cruise ALONE at low season (which I think October is) for the 7 night western cruise I would be looking at paying around $4500 (approx £2600) for a family of 2 adults / 2 children cat 9 - so I hope this some help as a rough comparison.

Why don't you look on the DisneyWebsite to see what they are charging for the exact dates you require ? As Wilma-bride says though, you may get a better deal from DU (though unfortunately after 01/04/06 they are no longer able to give the big discounts they could once offer on new quotes, due to new DCL policy).

The price is from the disney cruise site and is based on the 3 of us I HOPE.

have not got a price from Virgin yet as they do not give a quote online.

We would be using DVC for our stay. and do a flydrive with anyone who is the cheapest.

Sorry PJ -I mis-read your post ! :guilty: (harrassed by 2 wild children I'm afraid :bounce: :Pinkbounc !)

I think the price of £1800 for your party of 3 from DCL sounds very good - I doubt very much if Virgin, or any other British TA would beat it ..only the US websites are likely to go better.

I would be interested to see DU's quote now the good discount rates have finished..I would expect they would only be able to offer some stateroom credits which are still very useful as you will have your tips to pay, which may be done through the on board credit.

Good luck :wave2:
