Price increase on sold out resorts

HI everyone,

I am sure I am missing it, but does anyone know if there is going to be a price increase on the sold out DVC resorts (specifically BWV)? What is it going to be? WHen is it going into effect?

The price increase affects all resorts sold through DVC. So, yes it affects the sold out resorts.

The announcement I received from DVC only pertained to SSR. It certainly seems logical that the sold-out prices and ROFR threshholds should move up with SSR prices, but I haven't seen anything official yet.

Has anyone had any official word of increases in the other resorts?

I'm not talking about what some guide trying to sell SSR says they think might happen - I mean facts.

Last spring, when SSR went up in price the "sold out" resorts did not. Then, one day the "sold out" resorts went up (I was on the waitlist and got a call from my guide seeing if I wanted to stay on) and SSR did not.

The prices on these resorts do NOT always "go up" together. I am assuming since the announcement only mentioned SSR, that ONLY SSR is included at this time. However, my gut tells me that the sold out resorts will not be far behind, but they will probably be a separate increase.

Right...that's exactly my point. I'd like to know whether anyone has any authenticated information about that.

There are a lot of people on waitlists for points or sitting through ROFR who are living and dying on rumors, and I'm sure they'd like to know whether there is any substance to the rumors or not.

I spoke with a supervisor earlier today on a different topic. Here's what he told me regarding the prices:
1) $3 increase on all properties (SSR and sold out properties)
2) Goes into effect 6/5 (I had previously heard 6/19)
3) Those on wait lists with Disney are locked in at the current prices

I can't say definitively these are "fact"...I'm only communicating what a Supervisor told me.

This is precisely the problem with getting info from guides. The information he gave you is directly contradicted by the notice DVC mailed to (I assume) all members. The cover of the notice has a calendar on it, with the text: "Take note of this date...June 19, 2005!"

I guess we'll really know when someone calls for waitlisted points.

So you are locked into the price when you get on the add-on list, or do you pay whatever is the "going rate" when your add-on becomes available....????

I received 2 different mailings direct from disney. One says June 19 the other June 5.

If this is true then I should get on the waitlist for 150 BCV points today!!! Ha Ha. In this market, you can buy them from disney and sell them for more than you paid the next day, well, almost. He He. A guide told me that they saw a memo about the price increase on the sold out resorts but didn't know why it had not been officially announced. (Thus, the rumor I started) Who knows?

Yes, if you get on the wait list before the price increase, you get in on the current price, regardless of when your contract becomes available.

Actually, I was told by my guide that if I go on the waitlist today, but what I want does not come available until after the price increase, then I get the points at the going rate at the time the come available. I do not get them at the current price if they go up before they are available to me.

you could be right - i'm just relaying what information my guide shared with me. if i've learned one thing in the 1 month i've been investigating this and working with a guide/exploring a purchase of DVC, it's that they can be wrong. i would ask him/her to confirm it because i specifically asked the question and got on the wait-list for that reason. for all i know though, my guide was mistaken.

Last time they raised prices, those on waiting list were NOT grandfathered--they paid the prevailing prices when the points became available.

As to the different dates, I believe the price increase on 6/5 is for NON members. Prices go up for CURRENT members on 6/19. This type of staggered increase schedule has been used in the past.
