Price for 256MB card for digital camera?

DH went to get an extra memory card for our digital for our trip, and he found a 256MB for $42.99 at Best Buy. Is that a good price? I think I paid around $75 for our other one, but maybe I got ripped off?????

The last time I checked, the 256MB card for my camera was around $100.

Maybe the prices are coming down. Which would be great news since I need to buy another one too.

What kind of memory card do you use? Depending on the type, I don't think you got ripped off. Hopefully the prices are starting to come down now.

What brand is it? A better brand (ScanDisk) can be found at www.newegg.com for about $39 (free shipping). So as long as it is like a ScanDisk, Lexar or something like that, it isn't a bad deal at all from Best Buy

I guess I'm not crazy! It's an SD/MMC (?) card, I don't remember the brand, it's whatever DH uses at work on their extremely expensive digital they use there. He's used the same brand for about 8 years, and never had a problem.

Can you tell I don't know much about these things? I got my 1st digital (Kodak DX6490) for my birthday in July....

sd/mmc cards are still kind of pricey compared to the compact flash type. Still, $42 at Best Buy is a steal for those things.

My camcorder uses SD & my digital camera uses XD...

Of course the SD is now cheaper than XD, so your price sounds right...

A lot better price than the xD Picture card which was running about $120 CDN for the 256 mb. Thankfully I bought 2 of them in the spring when they were 50% off at Future Shop -- a Canadian division of Best Buy, which is in direct competition with Best Buy in Canada. Go figure.
