Price difference upgrading parkhopper to an AP?

I have a "non-expiring 10 day MYW ticket with parkhopping". I used 2 days last trip, so now it's an 8 day ticket.

I'd like to upgrade to a regular AP this October. Will I lose the money I paid for the non-expiring and parkhopping options? Or, will the price difference that I have to pay be between a "non-expiring 8 day MYW ticket with parkhopping" and an AP?

Thanks for any help!

we did the same thing with our nonexpiring tickets in June. We just brought them to the ticket window at the park before going in (I would assume that you would be able to do it right from the hotel lobby too). They credit you for your unused days left on your tickets towards the purchase of the AP. We were amazed at how cheap our APs turned out to be and I am so glad we did it.

Precious Pixie, thank you for your reply! I still don't understand if they credit you just the difference between the basic MYW and an AP--or what you actually paid (extra $ for non-expiring and parkhopper option).

You may have tried to explain this in your post--maybe I'm having a "duh" moment!?

Any other input out there? TIA!!:thumbsup2

It is what you paid for it. So we had park hopping, and waterparks which made our magic your way tickets more expensive than the base. They subtract the remaining value from the price of the AP. We got FL resident APs so they were slightly cheaper however we only had 3 days left on our passes and we paid a total of $8 each! I couldn't believe how cheap and easy it was. I hope I was able to answer your question

Frm what I'm told. if the MYW ticket was used more than 13 days ago, the value towards an AP is computed on a short rate basis, not pro-rated and not a full credit based on purchase price.

Roughly you got the purchase price minus the cost of a non-expiring ticket consisting of what you already consumed.

I have a lot of questions about this also. When you upgrade to an AP, does the AP have an activation date of the ugrade or the date of the first use of the MYW ticket? If you purchase a MYW ticket with non-expiring option, and never use it, can you upgrade it two years later? What about if you did use it?

DOLLAR CREDIT

Disney allows you to apply the DOLLAR CREDIT of any unused major park admissions left on your ticket towards the purchase of a longer MYW ticket/AP/PAP. There is no time limit on this as long as you have the no expiration option on the original ticket. Unused plus options carry no dollar value when figuring DOLLAR CREDIT.

MYW tickets are front loaded in value. That means that the most expensive days are the earliest ones. The later days (example: 8, 9 & 10 on a 10 day ticket) are only worth less than $5 each. The basic formula for the amount of the credit will be a deduction of a one day ticket price for the first day you used, the amount of the first and second day for the first two days you used, etc. By the time you get up to day 5, your ticket is actually worth very little in value towards a new one.

The ticket will be credited with the gate price amount, not just the puchase price amount for the purposes of doing the upgrade. When you upgrade these tickets, you will only pay the price difference between the value of the remaining park admissions on the old ticket and the price of the new ticket. You will not be charged for any other price difference. Important note: Problems seem to occur with this often when tickets purchased in advance from a non-Disney source are involved. Guest Relations is much more consistent in doing this transaction correctly than a resort's Lobby Concierge is.

You will only be allowed to apply one old ticket to each new one you get. You cannot take five old tickets each with a day on them and apply them all to one new MYW ticket/AP/PAP. If you were getting 5 new tickets then you could use all five of the old ones by applying one to each.

If the old ticket was used in more than one park on any one day, you will be required to purchase the new ticket with the Park Hopper add on. If the old ticket was used at a water park, PI, WWoS, or DQ, you will be required to purchase the new ticket with the Water Park Fun & More add on. If it has been longer than 14 days since first use and you had the no expiration option on it, you will be required to purchase the new ticket with the no expiration option. If the old ticket was unused, then you will be allowed to purchase any MYW ticket you choose so long as the cost of the new ticket exceeds that of the old one.

Normally when you upgrade to an annual pass it starts from the first day you used the ticket so if it was 2 years ago you wouldn't necessarily be able to upgrade it for an AP. If you have used the extras part of a pass it can only be upgraded to a Premium Annual pass.
