Price Adjustments at Loft?

Yesterday I bought two sweaters at Loft for full price :scared1: (killed me but they were the last ones in my size and I have a hard time finding sweaters I like:sad2:). The sales associate that checked me out said that if they go on sale within 7 days I can get a price adjustment.

This morning in my email low and behold there is a coupon for 50% off my entire purchase today only from noon to 7 p.m. :cool1:. However, the fine print says, "No adjustments to prior purchases":sad1:. So am I out of luck since this is a coupon not a sale per se? That's what it sounds like but just wondering if anyone has been able to get a price adjustment with a coupon.

From their website (bolding mine):

One price adjustment for merchandise purchased at full-price, which has been marked down for the first time, may be made within 7 days from the original date of purchase. Price adjustments are not eligible on special promotions, including %'s off (e.g., 25%, 40%, and 50% etc.) and $'s off. Please note, our stores are not able to process price adjustments for online orders. To request a one-time price adjustment, please e-mail us at clientservices@LOFTonline.com within the 7-day window. Should you be eligible for a price adjustment, we will gladly credit your original form of payment within 1 week of receipt of your email and send you an email reply confirmation. Depending on your credit card cycle, however, please allow 1-2 cycles for the credit to appear. Should you not be eligible for a price adjustment, we will reply with an email, as well.

Interesting - the wording on my receipt is different:

"One price adjustment on full-priced merchandise may be made within 7 days from the original date of purchase. To receive an adjustment, you must present your original receipt"

I wonder if the online and instore policies differ:confused3.

Gosh, if they're not going to do a price adjustment on something you just bought yesterday, I would DEFINITELY go back to store with coupon, return your sweaters, and rebuy them with the coupon!

Go to the store with your coupon (and sweaters with receipt), politely ask for a price adjustment and if they say no then tell them you want to return them and repurchase them with your coupon. They can't say no to that. Most likely they will just do a price adjustment to save time. :)

They can't do a price adjustment on something that didn't change in price. The sweaters the OP bought aren't going on sale, they are still the price she paid. She has a promo coupon to take 50% off of her purchase, its not the same as something going on sale and getting a price adj. for that item.
Does that make sense?

OP, I'd go back with the sweaters, receipt and your coupon. If they can't price adjust, just return and re-buy :thumbsup2

I'd take them back, return and rebuy using the coupon. If it's a coupon you can use online or in the store buy them online using the coupon and return your full priced items back to the store. Hopefully you can get free shipping so it won't cost more.

Thanks all! I went back with my coupon, the sweaters and the receipt. They gave me a price adjustment no problem. She didn't even ask to see the coupon because they were telling everyone who walked in that the entire store is 50% off. Woohoo, just got $49.50 back :dance3:.

:goodvibes

They can't say no to returning them (as long as all conditions are met) however, some stores are trying to curb this type of transaction by doing this: You can return any item (as long as all conditions are met) however those items go in the back room, not back into immediate inventory, therefore you can't repurchase the exact items you just returned. Now if they have the same items in the store at the time, then it won't matter. In the case where it was the last item or size of an item, you're out of luck.

This is done for a few reasons. Many stores have a "no price adjustment" policy - it stinks but it is what it is. People will get around that by returning items then immediately re-purchasing at the lower price. Another reason is for loss prevention. Many stores audit their returns heavily due to possible internal theft. Any time an item is returned, it will have to be held in the back room along with all the return paperwork for a store manager or higher up to review before placing the items back out on the sales floor.

So glad you got the adjustment with no hassle. I love Loft!
