OMG! You all are cracking me up! :rotfl2: I don't even think I would notice if a guest had an old or new or other resort mug. I just wouldn't think to even look.

Me either!!! I've got places to go, things to do, characters to see!!! :earseek:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

people people people.... what have we resorted to!!! I posted on this board earlier this morning and it is still thriving!! LOL.... :rotfl: Ok bottom line... each refill costs Disney $0.02 .... At 12 bucks a pop, that means that you would have to fill your Disney mug at least 600 times before Disney started losing ANY MONEY on your drinks.... lets get real here.... Let me see someone who has filled their mug 600 times and I will show you someone who has spent ENOUGH at Disney to be there all the gosh darn time that they deserve a free drink or two...Heck, Vegas gives away free deluxe hotel stays for that kind of spender!! (and if your out there Mr. 600th Refill, I would glady allow you to pay for my next trip... and MUG too!)

BTW, Me and DBf both got mugs at POP in January and we will be resuing them the next time we go. Whose with me? :rotfl:

OK....I found TWO MORE mugs lurking in the kitchen.
These both say 25th anniversary on them...so, ya think if I am sure to take them BOTH on May 5, that I might get to use them on the 50 anniversary???

I agree that these mugs (which actually don't hold all that much) couldn't cost more than 2 cents a fill. And after a long day at the parks, I doubt I 'refilled' any mug more than once a day (coffee, I don't drink soda)...I would guess that if I used one of my mugs every day every stay that Disney would still be ahead on my deal.

I say we put lime green stickers on our mugs so we KNOW WHO WE ARE...argh, DISBOARDERS ON THE TAKE. FILL ER UP. :rotfl:
I cherish my mug through the good and bad times...and I swear (Scarlett overtones here) that I will never go thirsty again! :rotfl2:

Just keep in mind that this mortal life is temporary and short, and those who religiously buy new refillabe mugs each trip will have this fact noted in the Great Book of Deeds, and when it comes time for that long dirt nap, they shall receive a FastPass to the Pearly Gates.

I'm with you!! :rotfl2: Anybody got a couple of old BW mugs we can use for our trip??? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:  (just kidding!!!!)

I agree with the OP's irritation b/c if there is a rule, it should be enforced. It is unfair to those of us who try and follow the rules to pay for something that other people get for free.

I have an ASM mug but am planning to buy a new one when we get to WL. However, if CMs are telling people the original mug can be reused, why should I buy a new one?

On the other hand, I do consider mine a good souveneir.

I didn't realize how many perfect people were in this world. I do not happen to be one of them... Thank God.

You don't have to be perfect to not take something that isn't yours. I myself, would be embarrassed to walk around in perfect site of everyone, helping myself to drinks (I don't care how much they cost - 1 cent or $1) that I have not paid for. But I have now came up with a way to save some money on my next vacation - I guess those of you who reuse the mug wouldn't mind if I were to just walk up to your table and help myself to the hamburger on your plate - no big deal, just trying to save some money, after all I spend "an arm and a leg" on my Disney vacation.

Come off it people - those of us who do not agree with reusing the old mugs are not the ones who are "obsessing". It appears to me that those of you who are trying to defend yourselves are the ones who are obsessing and find it hard to accept anyone elses OPINION. I personally, only wanted to emphasize the point that I was p'd off that I spent $50 on mugs (also not the first time) only to see all these others spending nothing. Those of you who say it doesn't bother you at all - I'm sure there are things that do bother you that doesn't bother every other living person.

I think it is you opinionated, sarcastic people that need to get off your high horse. You don't have to slam and bang people who do not share your personal opinion! Yes, voice your opinion but it's really not necessary to be so rude and down right ignorant. Have a nice day.... :rolleyes1

In August we bought 4 YC/BC mugs the night before our cruise. After our cruise we were supposed to return there for 3 more nights but instead had to leave due to Hurricane Frances. We debated about bringing them on our recent trip to Pop Century since we clearly had not gotten our intended 4 nights worth of drinks, but we didn't because it didn't seem right.

At Pop we brought our own travel coffeemaker (clearly a budget trip, LOL). Usually we drink our coffee in the room but one morning I wanted to take it with me on the bus. DH ran up to the food court to get a paper cup and cover and they charged him $2.10! :earseek: Oh well, in the scheme of things...

And to think that I thought the peanut butter/jelly police would see me at BW Bakery when I 'stole' those couple of take-along thingies. I felt like every eye was on me..but did that stop me?? No, I slunk (is that a word??) away, with my pockets brimming over with the 2 peanut butter and 2 strawberry jelly thingies. I only wanted them for my poor starving child who really wanted a sandwich for breakfast. I mean, I did buy some stuff at the Bakery, I really did.

7-11 Big Gulp Container? :rotfl: That belongs under a new thread 'Tacky people doing Tacky Things at Disney'

I once saw someone using a Universal mug. Now that's tacky - using a mug purchased from the competition LOL

I've seen threads like this several times and I've never replied but I'm going to today. I'm going to tell you what I was told by a cast member at Roaring Forks at the Wilderness Lodge when we bought our mugs.

He said that the mugs are reusable for this trip and ALL FUTURE trips! That everytime we came back to the Wilderness to bring our mugs with us because they are reusable. He also went on to state that if we ever stayed at another resort like say the Poly (his exact reference/example) that we would then either have to buy their refillable mug or pay $1 for each refill that I put in my brought back Wilderness mug.

Now this CM may have been wrong BUT I would not know that if I never stumbled across these boards and saw how it irritates some of you. I would only have known what that Disney CM told me and perhaps such is the case with others who buy these refillable mugs. I've personally never reused my mug because we haven't stayed at the Wilderness again but I may have because that is what I was told to do. I also have friends who stay at the Wilderness every year and they bring their mugs with them because oddly they were told the same thing by a different Cast Member on a different trip that they could bring them back as they never "expired".

Perhaps Disney doesn't change the style of the mug because this is what the rules still are. Now if something has changed then Disney needs to make the new policy known.

I do not reply to these "mug" threads either, but I have to agree with ForTheLoveofDisney. There are about 65,000 people on these boards. Not everyone reads all of the threads. How many people are at WDW Resorts on a given day?? I am sure that there are many more people at the resorts than on these boards. I think most resort guest follow the rules that they are told. If they are told that the resort mug is refillable for life, then they are following the rules. I know that the "new rule" is that resort mugs purchused today are only good for the duration of your stay. But, that has no bearing on the resort mug purchused when they were good for life. I relate it to the "new" tickets. I still have days left on an old ticket. I was told by a CM that the days on the ticket I bought were good for "life." Now that the tickets have changed, should my ticket not be able to be used? Should I have to pay to use this ticket? No!

This dispute is never going to end. I have never bought a mug before (I think I have bought a cup one or two times--we love the resorts, but we spend most of our time in the parks--no reason for a mug). I have no clue if people are using old mugs or not. Is is not that big of a deal to me.

Got this particular mug at BWV in Aug'04. I bought it at Boardwalk Bakery. It says, underneath the handle, and I quote...."Free refills until the end of your stay. Refills only at location purchased." None of my other mugs, purchased on previous visits, say this. Seems to be new. Yes, the CMs will tell you differently. However, there is signage, at least in the spots I looked since last Aug., that says pretty much what the above mentioned mug states. So, do whatever makes you feel good. I would imagine that this is pretty much the same thing as people asking different CMs the same question until they get the answer they wanted in the first place. I have had only one CM ever say that the mug is good only for this stay, at this resort. And it wasn't the one who I bought that above mug from!! Most others have said good anytime, anywhere. The way I see it is...CM don't want to make you unhappy and have a scene on their hands. They just turn a blind eye to the illicit practices going on. So, it's basically a moot point. There are some that feel they are being gyped because they have paid for their mugs, each trip, each resort. Then they see others refilling mugs at Polynesian that were bought at WL. Others feel that based on what they have been told by CMs they can use and reuse those mugs each and every time they visit that resort. Others go so far as to reuse them at different resorts on different trips.

I am not the mug police. No longer care what you do...either way. Up to you. I just wanted to say what this one particular mug said on it. Will I be bringing it back to BWV next time? Nope. It's too inconvenient to use. Besides, we've started drinking more water...much better for you in the long run.

I was worried about this, actually...I have an old unused ticket on my son's park hopper (bought about 2 years ago). When we bought it at the Disney store, they said they never expire. Then I was just looking at Disney.com and I saw new tickets where you could choose if they expired or not. I got nervous! I certainly didn't want to lose that park day since we've been saved it to return and kept buying APs and never needed to use it. I was worried the policy had changed and we wouldn't be able to use his ticket. :earseek:

Not an issue. We still are working with PHP that we bought in 2001!!! Have one remaining plus on each of them. We used a plus on them in Aug since our AP are not the premiums. And I knew I wasn't supposed to do it but I did anyway...when we were there over Thanksgiving I gave my dad and step-mom two of the old PHP that had one day in the parks left and they used it to get into Epcot with us. We used our APs. WE'll most likely be using that last plus at BB in June!!!

There have been signs stating the mugs were only good for your current stay since the mid to late 90's. I don't think anyone has definitely stated that the free soda for life deal was in writing. Some people claim seeing such a sign more than 10 years ago but I'm not sure.

I agree people who bought mugs before any signs were put up, and were told by a CM they could bring back their mugs for future trips have a small case. Only a small case since the word of a single CM doesn't really constitute Disney policy and would be subject to change.

The current policy still seems to be free soda for all, old mugs, mugs from other resorts and even 7-11 mugs. Some of the "mug police" think continuing abuse and overuse will cause Disney to completely end the policy. Selling old mugs on E-Bay for free soda seems a little much for me.

:rotfl2: And down under there will be an hour long line to purchase a cap full of vinegar for $20, refills $25. pirate:
Lighten up people.
And why do the moderators let these threads keep going and going? We need some "Mug Thread Police".

Sorry but I have to disagee due to what it actually says on my mug. Bought it in Aug'04 and it most definatly addresses the reuse issue. Says and I quote (again) 'free refills until the end of your stay. refills only at location purchased'
I'm not sure how much clearer Disney can be.

Using my Disney Mugs gives me the added sense of power....
Bob down the hall has a Garfield one...psshh...amatuer...
Mary on floor 3 has one with her grandsons on it...please Mary...the're not that cute....
Joe in Customer Relations has a Universal one...ha...I just laugh everytime he comes in the break room...what a wannabe
And me...well...I have my CBR for Mondays and Wednesdays...my Wilderness Lodge one for Tuesdays and Thursdays...and my BC one for Fridays...yea thats right...I like to mix it up!
In the back of my mind I know I'm the fool...cause I payed 4 times more for mine...but thats no the point...they only see the mugs...not the credit report behind them :rolleyes1

Mine says the exact same thing, but Disney could be clearer by explaining that to the employees who are telling people that they are good forever. If thats what people are being told by CM's, then they are going to do what they are told, until a more informed staff member tells them otherwise.
I have had this mug since last year, and I would have NEVER noticed the writing had I not looked for it.
