Hoping (almost knowing for sure
) my fellow DIS'ers can help me out with a pretty specific ? I'm trying to plan for.
We'll be hitting DW in a little under 12 weeks.
If the situation allows, I'm really hoping on doing one of the bit more jerky rides that don't allow me to stay in my powerchair (which does a great job of helping me out dealing with jerks and staying safe
). I know it'll cause me pain, but what the heck! We'll be there long enough, plan around it, except the consequence and celebrate another ride under my belt.
Thing is, I've just had a finger amputated this week. While 12 weeks is a long way to go, we already know I won't be done with rehab by then even close. I've been known for slow healing, easily reopening wounds, basically getting myself into a long long rehab for anything.
Knock on wood, but if things go as expected, I'm cleared to do such a ride but only if I can do it in such a way I can more or less protect that hand from smashing it into something. The rides I can use my powerchair on this isn't an object as my chair is my own protection bumper.
Jerky rides that would require transfer could be something else.
Now, I have NO idea about the following rides, as I've never done them. I would love to hear other DIS'ers experiences about these rides and specifically; are they jerky in such a way and/or is the vehicle designed in such a way that the two combined could lead into knocking a hand into some part of the vehicle because of the jerkiness?
It's not like I go waving my arms all around like
, I've got pretty OK body control, but when confronted with unexpected jerks I can find my arms moving around unexpected somewhat. As long as I have some range of movement right on/in front of my lap without being able to hit into anything I should be fine.
Rides I've got on my shortlist;
- ToT
- Space Mountain
- EE
- Splash Mountain
- KRR
