My sister had the original S1, and the sensor went out. When she called canon they said send it in and they would give her an estimate. So, it cost her $20 to send it in. Today she got an S5 back saying they no longer had the sensors to replace her's that failed. So for her old broken camera and 20 bucks she has a new S5.

That's pretty good service. We had a similar experience last fall, when the sensor on our first digital camera, a Canon A75 went bad. Even though it was 2004 vintage, Canon replaced the sensor, free of charge, and did it quickly.

Kudos to Canon!

WOW, and I thought I got good customer support!

When I got my new computer back in October, I had issues with Windows Vista recognizing my Canon printer. Canon's support was great in getting my problem solved!

What they did for your sister is AWESOME!:thumbsup2

Last year my 4 year old S230 sensor died. I sent it in and they sent back a refurbished S670 :thumbsup2

good to hear...anyone who has been on here for a while probably knows i had to jump through fire-lit hoops to get it but i think they did do great in the finale by replacing my lens and camera (eventually,) but i do think I had somewhat of an uncommon problem so that could explain some of it
