Hi! I had a great weekly rate for a minivan for the Feb. break that I made awhile ago, thanks to the great advice from a fellow DISer. (2/17-2/24 for $300 inc. taxes through Dollar.)

But.....with the astronomical airfares for that time, we've changed our dates to 2/18-2/23 for much lower airfare. So now, it's back to trying to find a good deal on a car rental. I know it's early, but any suggestions out there?

We've always used National before....like the convenience of the Emerald Club...but I'm not sure about liking it to the tune of $350+ for an intermediate....LOL.....

We don't necessarily need a minivan, but need more than the compact. Any great deals out there? Thanks......... :)

Hi, Did you try just MODIFYING your rate with Dollar on your present reservation?? I usually rent with Alamo and this is what I do,it calculates the vehicle at the same rate you had orginally but for the different days or time span. I hope this makes sense to you!! If not post again and I will try to explain it better!! Joan

Thanks, Joan. I did try and then I even called them. I was told that I had a great rate (I know!) and that I would now get a higher rate since we are coming in on a Sun. and leaving Friday. (I could have dropped off a day early to still get that rate, but not pick up a day late.) Thanks again. I will try once more though!

Lock something in at Thrifty.com now while the rates are low, then in January start shopping around with National as the specials/coupons etc pop up.

For thrifty try Promo Code WMRT (for Walmart customers)

I agree. Thrifty has a minivan for $296.38 for your dates.

Hi again! I booked the minivan with Thrifty for $296 and I will keep checking National as it gets closer. Thanks for the suggestion!

Have you used Thrifty before? Is their counter bypass like National's? Thanks!!

haven't used them at MCO but have heard that it's not one of Thrifty's most efficient operations. I'd definitely sign up for the speed-rent thing before picking up the van.
