I love how presents look when they are under the tree and it's a shame we dont get to enjoy them more, since it all shows up on Christmas Eve. So this year I am toying putting a few gifts from Mom and Dad out early.

Bad Idea?? I figure double wrapping/boxed to help keep out the peekers... I also have some "friend" gift to wrap, I suppose those are safer. hmmmm

Do you put any gifts out early?

Thoughts?

This is a subject my husband and I totally disagree on. My parents always put out most of the presents as the month went along, so from the time the tree went out there was stuff appearing under it all the way until Christmas morning. I think it helps build the suspense and the mood, to me. My husband says the presents must ALL appear on Christmas morning. Spoilsport. :rotfl:

He's in Iraq this year...hmmmmmm. I guess I could do it my way, huh? Heh heh heh.

Yes. I think it just looks prettier.

Granted, there is only 1 child (17) in the house-so, we don't have the "more presents than me" sqwaubbles. And at 17, I don't have to explain that the sleigh was too full, so the elves asked if they could send some stuff early.;)

Her stocking and "big" gift are put out on Christmas morning.

I put them out as I finish wrapping them. I do it under the downstairs tree though that you can't really see from the street. My mom never wanted to put presents under the tree in case it encouraged a thief to break in and steal them.

My dogs usually open them multiple times before Christmas though. I'll be upstairs in my office and hear paper being ripped into.

I am doing fabric wrappings this year and silk/satin ribbons so they are more durable (plus it's greener). The dogs still have paper wrapped presents that I'll probably rewrap several times with the one roll of christmas paper I have left. They really love it.

We always put gifts under the tree. Then Santa will leave something extra special on Christmas Eve night and fill the stockings. Everything else is from mom & dad.

We always put the gifts under the tree early. Santa leaves each child one "large" unwrapped present. That is left sometime between bedtime and Christmas morning.

That's what we do. :thumbsup2 It's the way both of our parents did things, too.

All the gifts to my immediate family go under the tree as soon as they are wrapped & the tree is up.

Family and friends' presents go under the tree as soon as they're wrapped (unless they can be very easily identified even with wrapping). Santa does not wrap gifts. On Christmas Eve he places them (fully assembled, when necessary) in front of the fireplace and fills stockings.

We buy for 18 people NOT including ourselves or our kids! We put out all of the gifts except the kids gifts. Well the kids get to see one gift each under the tree. After 11 and 9 years they both know that the gifts they see are pjs. They get to open those on Christmas Eve. They get new pjs every year. Got to look nice for Christmas morning pictures! Santa brings one gift for each of them unwrapped and the rest come from DH and I.

My mom put about half-ish of the presents under the tree, and the stockings were empty. Then even though we didn't do the Santa thing (it was well known that my mom was Everything in our house) more presents would mysteriously appear and the stockings would be astonishingly filled in the middle of the night. Quite a nice way to do it. :goodvibes

All wrapped gifts go under the tree....except those being mailed away.
Only the gifts from Santa do not arrive until Christmas Eve/morning.

I only put gifts for other people under our tree before Christmas eve. Even though our girls are teens and know all about Santa, He still brings the presents to our house on Christmas eve.!:santa:

They go under the tree on Christmas Eve for two reasons:

Reason #1- My dd is a guesser. And it doesn't matter how hard I work to disguise the gift, she still figures it out. So she has less time to guess if she doesn't see them until Christmas morning.

Reason #2- I can't wrap anything until Christmas Eve because I forget what I've bought and end up spending too much. :lmao: Apparently, I'm GREAT at disguising things from myself but not so much from dd.

Presents go uder the tree on christmas morning, any earlier and the cats use them as trampolines!

I can't put them out early. I don't trust my daughter not to open them. Knowing her, she wouldn't try to hide it either lol.

If I put presents under the tree now, where would the dog nap all day? :)

Our presents are always brought out on Christmas Eve after the kids go to bed. On Christmas morning, it's fun to see the kids come down and enjoy the sight of the lit tree with the gifts underneath. Our kids are getting older, but we still put the presents out after they go to bed. :santa:

My parents always put the presents out under the tree after I was in bed. It looks so wonderful!!

That's what DFiance and I will do with our kids too. :santa:

I'd put them out early as long as you don't have pets. Pets can do a real number on presents, bows, etc.......
