In the early years the kids presents were never put under the tree until after they went to bed on Christmas Eve - this was DH's custom as a child and something he thought we should continue. That is all well and good except DH goes to bed before the kids half the time and it always left it up to me to haul everything out of the hiding places, wrap and get under the tree. Once we had DD it became too much, so I changed the custom.

Now, everything goes under the tree as it is wrapped. My BFF and I usually have a "wrap day" where we send all the kiddo's off with the DH's and we get everything for ereryone wrapped. Sometimes I bag it and put a few under the tree everyday, it just depends.

The wrapped Santa items get placed after the darlings are in bed-this is still my job but since Santa only brings 1 or 2 things, not a huge issue.

If we had our tree up and our shopping done, yup. Presents would be wrapped and under the tree. :D

This is the 1st year we're putting gifts under the tree early. Last year my youngest wouldn't have understood, "don't touch". She would have torn into them all. This year we had a talk and she understands there's consequences. Big difference between a 3 and 4 year old.

We always put gifts under the tree. Then Santa will leave something extra special on Christmas Eve night and fill the stockings. Everything else is from mom & dad.

:thumbsup2 here too!

I always coordinate all my wrapping paper and the gifts under the tree are part of our holiday decorations.

We put out friends and familys gifts under the tree early but the kids are put out on Christmas eve after they go to bed so when they wake up its "Santas been here!!!!!" LOL I love that part.

Family and friends' presents go under the tree as soon as they're wrapped (unless they can be very easily identified even with wrapping). Santa does not wrap gifts. On Christmas Eve he places them (fully assembled, when necessary) in front of the fireplace and fills stockings.

All wrapped gifts go under the tree....except those being mailed away.
Only the gifts from Santa do not arrive until Christmas Eve/morning.

We're another family which does things this way. Dh (family from Iowa) and I (family from Texas) both grew up doing it this way as well. We have moved a lot and always meet locals who do it both ways--so I do not even think it is a regional thing. I don't recall the kids ever trying to open gifts as toddlers, etc--they always just thought they were pretty.
We also have a second "Disney Tree" in the dining room and birthday gifts (3 out of the 4 of us have Decemebr birthdays) go under there as soon as they are bought and wrapped (or show up in the mail from relatives).

We hide the gifts and then put them all out the night before Christmas, after the kids are asleep. It just creates such a magical kind of feeling for them to get up in the morning and see all of those presents suddenly appear.

I will never forget the excitement I would have as a kid on the night before Christmas. Then I would run to the tree on Christmas morning and was always amazed at all of the gifts there. (There actually weren't a lot when I was growing up, but it seemed like it to me)

We always wrap all of the presents. The ones from Santa were in Santa wrap.
We found it was so much fun for the kids to unwrap the toys. There's always that moment of suspense when you wonder what is in the present.

if we had presents to go under a tree. which could be a huge reason i'm not putting up a tree. it will look all naked under there and depressing.

Presents for others are under the tree... Presents for Us, Santa Claus brings on Christmas Eve.. or Christmas early, ealry morning if Santa falls asleep :rolleyes1

Presents are already under the tree. If anyone peeks....I'll know and then...it's no longer their gift.;)

Presents from family members to each other were wrapped and under our tree for a couple of weeks prior to Christmas. I have wrapped presents under my tree right now.

Presents from Santa, of course, appeared magically unwrapped during the night for Christmas morning.

We do put presents under the tree early, but only those that go to people not living in the house. The rest go out Christmas Eve.

Wow..I never realized some don't put out the gifts before Xmas Eve...

We do...the only things that show up Xmas Eve are the ones from Santa while the kids are asleep...

I put presents for extended family and friends under the tree early along with a couple of gifts for the boys, but of course the Santa gifts don't appear until morning

This is what we do.

And we have always had the camcorder set up to record the children's faces as they rounded the corner and saw the tree all lit up with presents underneath.

We put out everything but Santa items. Here is our tree right now. No santa items have come out yet this is just stuff to each other from each other. I love the way presents look under the tree too!!!

I had no idea so many people put stuff out unwrapped. Even when we were kids and we got bikes they were fully assembled and wrapped. The unwrapping is the best part!!!:woohoo:
