That was my first thought, too! I've never heard of that before.
Vicodin is dangerous and scary stuff. I've seen more than one person become dependent -- so I also agree with whoever said to throw it away
But as far as the company asking why... I don't know, that sounds like some kind of invasion of privacy. What happened to doctor-patient confidentiality? How did they even find out about it in the first place?

I wouldn't describe Vicodin as scary and dangerous. A severe strep throat can cause severe pain and if accompanied by a severe cough can be extremely painful. It can also work as a cough suppressant. It also responds well to pennicillin so no more than a couple of days of Vicodin woulld be necessary. It can be addictive and abused but it can also be used as necessary and responsibly. I think that orthopedic pain, in general responds better to NSAIDS, except for rotator cuff surgery. Then put me to sleep until it heals. (just kidding).
