Prescription Narcotics?

That was my first thought, too! I've never heard of that before.

Vicodin is dangerous and scary stuff. I've seen more than one person become dependent -- so I also agree with whoever said to throw it away :thumbsup2

But as far as the company asking why... I don't know, that sounds like some kind of invasion of privacy. What happened to doctor-patient confidentiality? How did they even find out about it in the first place?

Hope your foot feels better fast!

I wouldn't describe Vicodin as scary and dangerous. A severe strep throat can cause severe pain and if accompanied by a severe cough can be extremely painful. It can also work as a cough suppressant. It also responds well to pennicillin so no more than a couple of days of Vicodin woulld be necessary. It can be addictive and abused but it can also be used as necessary and responsibly. I think that orthopedic pain, in general responds better to NSAIDS, except for rotator cuff surgery. Then put me to sleep until it heals. (just kidding).

Thanks all!

I am just not going to take the pills. I'll suffer through. Hopefully some good R&R will help me get through the weekend. It's feeling a little better today. which is good!

Isn't it funny, EVERYONE thinks it is so strange that I got Vicodin for strep! But honestly, it was so painful that I could hardly breathe or swallow. My next stop would have been the emergency room, it was that bad. I was in tears. The doctor said it was one of the worst cases he had seen in a while. (I also got Z-Pac and anti-inflam's.)

Of course, the Vicodin didn't take the pain away, per se, but I just didn't care anymore! :rotfl:

I don't think its unreasonable. I have seen patients with such severe throat pain that they couldn't swallow their own saliva.
With regard to the controlled substance; don't take it for anything that it wasn't prescribed for and make sure its current. One of DHs jobs in the Army is to evaluate soldiers who "pee hot". The presence of THC is grounds for automatic discharge. Opiates; a current prescription bottle with a note from a physician on what was prescribed and why. Cocaine? Well you had better just gotten out of the hospital with a nose job! They only use it in the OR during that type of surgery. :rotfl:

Do what you think it right but do not suffer because some people freak out at the thought of pain meds, if you take them the right way and not more then needed you should be fine.I hope you feel better...they can ask for proof the dr have it to you BUT no they CAN NOT make you put WHY they gave it to you...they can not force you to give them any private medical info.
