Do you use a prescription allergy eye drop? Which one and what is your experience? Is it working well for you?

I use Elestat. Not every day but just when I need it. It seems to work well.

YEs...unfortunately we misplaced the one that we like--it is very soothing and does the job well.

The other one we have (Both were samples) we find stings a little on application but otherwise does the job well. It is called Pataday.

Both were free samples from the allergists office. The good one was a much larger, clear bottle with (I think) a green and blue label.

Visine of any kind and any OTC kind don't work well on me at all and I have found that the prescription drops did well to eliminate the allergen in the eye. I just prefer a more "soothing" drop.

We (dd and I) use them as needed and they work in a pinch. Visine, I'd have to empty the whole bottle--it was as effective as water (so not very.).

It is suggested to keep them refrigerated so that they are a little more soothing, but that can't happen when you take the drops with you.:( We love it when the drops are cold.

Well, dangit! Was it by any chance Optivar:

I'm currently using pataday but it doesn't seem to be cutting it.

I wish I knew. I thought the bottle was taller. Let me see if I can google around and find it.

It may have been as the name sounds familiar--and it figures I would remember the label wrong.

Optivar does have a green and blue label.

I'm googling and not finding much--I found 2 others, one that starts with "E" and that wasn't it and it wasn't Livostin.

I think it may have been the one you just posted.

Maybe see if your allergist has a free sample?

We defintiely liked the other eyedrops better over the pataday.

I used to use Patanol (the predecessor to Pataday), but it just didn't work well and I couldn't use it with my contacts. Both my Opthamologist and my Allergist suggested Zaditor, which was, at the time, a prescription. It has since gone OTC. It is fantastic! I have severe eye allergies and chronic conjunctivitis and it works very well. I can also use it with my contacts.

Zadidor is now OTC. When it was prescription my allergist said it was the best. He still does.

Now see with DS7 we were told to use the Zatidor first, it worked some but he was still all red and itchy, then the wrote an RX for Patanol and it works much better.

I used OTC Opcon A when I needed it and it worked well. Since having LASIK I've been using Bepreve. It also works well for me.

I second that on the Zaditor. We can't get it in our store on base, so I use Patanol. My experience with Patanol is that it instantly numbs my eye upon contact, which is very important, because my eyes can itch really bad in the inside corners. It also calms the redness caused by allergies.
