preschool prices

just checked to see how much the place my kids went to charge- for a 3 day/4 hour per week program $300 per month. this does not include about $300 for registration which is twice per year (for the schedual that follows the school year and again for the summer programs). includes one snack (parents take turns providing), and any field trips are extra. thats still less than the 'chain' preschools charge in our area.

we live in northern california-but more of the 'burbs' not close to any major metro area.

I pay $120 per week for my DD but its an all day pre-school that provides lunch and snacks.

I sent my kids to home day care until they were old enough for the school district's pre-K program - age 4. The program was free, it was 4 days a week from 8:30 to Noon.

We just got our rates for next year.........

2 y/o's or 3 y/o's 2 days a week, 3 hours a day---$100 a mnth
3 y/o's or 4 y/o's 3 days a week, 3 hours a day---$125 a mnth
4 y/o's 5 days a week, 3 hours a day--$150 a mnth

We have the option of staying for extended care (pack them a lunch, they play, have rest time) for $5 an hour.

Wow, am I getting off cheap! DD goes to 3 yr old preschool through our school district. She goes Tues & Thurs for 2 hours and 15 min. It was $580 for the school year. Next year she will be in the 4 yr old pre-school which is 3 days a week. I think that runs a little over $800 for the school year.
The price varies widely around here. My sisters school district it is about 3x the cost of ours.
My DDs teachers are wonderful! It amazes me how much they can get done in that short amount of time. I think it helps that there are only 9 kids in her class. Tomorrow we are going on a field trip to the library. They get to ride on a bus and they do a whole ceremony to give them their first library card. Should be fun.

We pay $260 a month for MWF 3 hours a day. Next years tuition goes up to $290 for the same schedule. We also pay this same amount for August and December which we only go 2 weeks in both months!! That check hurts much more writing.

Oh we're in Northern California!

We are in the western suburbs here in Chicago We pay, for Tues, Wed, Thursday from 9:15 am to 11:45 am $155.00 a month.

interesting - there are often comparisons of living in the midwest instead of either coast, and while the huge differences in housing are well known, it's the little things that really add up.

I sent my girls to the preschool at our church, it is very highly regarded by the regional AEA. 3yo go 2 mornings a week(T/Th) for 2.5 hrs, 4yo attend 3 days a week (MWF) for 2.5 hrs either morning or afternoons. Cost for 3yo program is about $65/month. 4yo program is about $85-90.

Sheesh! When I priced it , it was $400 a month. That was half days Mon. Wed. Fri. Thats in a daycare.

The preschool I plan on sending DD to next year is $3150 a year. It's a Montessori program through the school District in the same building as the Kindergarten. They follow the same calendar as the other public schools, it's 2.5 hours a day.

Bayshore area by any chance? A friend of mine has her son there for 2 1/2 hours per day as well and she likes it.

OP, the price I'm going to list may  and :scared1: you a bit, but DS (who was 3 at the time) was in daycare pre-school from 7:30 am till about 5:15/5:20 pm M-F (DH and I work full time). We were paying $900 per month (about $150 per week).

DS is now enrolled in a private school for pre-school and it's costing us $533 per month for tuition. But he also goes M-F full time. It's definately a lot less for parents who send their kids a few days a week or for 1/2 a day.

DS5 goes to a church run pre-K program, 5 days/week, 9-12 and it's $235/month. He can stay until 1:30 for lunch if I pay an extra $8. DS9 went to a private preschool and that was roughly $1000 a year multiplied by the number of days of a week, so $5000/year for 5 day pre-k (9-12:30p.m.):teacher:

at our PS it is 2 1/2 hours a day....$90/mon for 2 days, $120/mon for 3 days, and $195/mon for 5 days. I do know it is going up next year.

I live in So. California, about 30 miles south of Los Angeles and we pay $165 for a church run private preschool. DD goes M-W-F 9am-12pm.

We used to pay $950/mo for her to go from 7am - 4pm! :sad2: Different daycare/preschool, of course.

I'm in suburban Chicago. The Montessori preschools that I have been looking at for DD are around $4000 a year for 5 days/wk (only option) half days.
