someone had mentioned they had prepaid for their resort (overpaid actually, using the balance for meals and such while there). I would like to do this but since I have a res. through CRO wonder how to do this. if I just send in a check with my res number and a request to apply it will they do so? Thanks

jann,
Call CRO and ask for the address to make payments. I have forgotten what it is, but it is not at WDW, like one would think.
I have done this very thing for our upcoming Dec. trip. Once you have the address, write your confirmation number on the check and send it in. They will handle it from there.
Have a great trip!

Phew, thanks that sure saved me one giant headache!

Call the Disney phone, they take credit cards over phone.

REMITTING PAYMENTS: For check payments, please write your reservation number on the face of the check. All checks must have a pre-printed name, address and account number for acceptance and must be made payable in U.S. funds to Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. Checks are not accepted within 10 days of your arrival date. NO POST-DATED CHECKS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Checks should be mailed to:

12698 Collections Center Drive
Chicago, IL 60693

Overnight Courier deliveries should be sent to:

Bank of America Lockbox Services
12698 Collections Center Drive
Chicago, IL 60693.

**DO NOT SEND CASH**

For credit card payments, please call (407) W-DISNEY (934-7639).

That's taken direct from a reservation confirmation slip. :)

I'm confused. Why prepay the bill? Why not stick the same money that you would send to Disney into a savings account? You earn some interest rather than Disney earning the interest. Then take the money out when you go, and pay at checkin. What advantage is there to giving Disney the money ahead of time, rather than keeping it in your own account? I know that if you have a package that it needs to be paid ahead of time, but if you just have a room reservation I just don't get it. I even go further and charge everything when I am there, leaving the money I have in the savings account at home. I sometimes get another month of interest depending upon the billing cycle of the credit card. I know that the interest rate on savings accounts is not much these days, but I would still rather have it go to me than to Disney.

Some people just don't use credit cards, and bank check cards sometimes have daily limits, and you can't charge resort balances.

Some people just don't like facing the bill when they get home.

Some people (myself included) don't have enough self-control not to touch the money, and need it to be someplace they can't get to it.

It's not necessarily that there's an advantage to it. A lot of it is just personal preference.

I have to agree. Since the deluxe resorts are so expensive, the yardstick we use as to whether or not we can afford to go each time depends on whether we can have the whole trip paid for (less incidentals) before we arrive. That means plane tickets, car rental and the resort is all paid for (i.e. not charged to plastic) by the time we arrive. Having AP's helps, too.

As it is we still spend a small fortune for meals, extra entertainment (the luau, boats/bikes, golf) and misc. do-dads. If I had to see all that plus the airfare and room costs on the next credit card bill I'd have a corronary!

BTW, we just return the confirmation letter with a check for the balance.

I plan to pay the entire balance on my Disney Visa card about 3 months in advance. This way I will be able to redeem my points for disney dollars (or card) to take with me. As soon as I receive the bill, the balance will get paid and I will have the extra disney dollars to spend.

mickeymost....We will be doing the same as you....paying for our resort ahead ( I was planning on about 60 days) with the Disney Visa, get our points posted to the account in time for our trip and paying the credit card bill with the vacation savings when it comes. We will get more points than we would make in interest. We are also hoping for an AP discount on our rooms and have a very nice credit on our room account when we check in!!! ::MinnieMo

hmm had not even thought of the if /when /maybe/ hopefully /Ap discount...

I agree with the poster who said some people don't have the self control to have the money acessible. I have never had my trip paid for in advance and that has led me to use credit cards and over spend. This time I am deinately going to send in payments and overpay for my trip in advance. The idea of keeping the money in the bank and making interest is a great idea but I would always find an excuse to use it for something. If I look at it like paying a bill and having to send in money on something it will be paid off before I get there. Then hopefully I will not have to break out the plastic!!!
