Preparing for rain

I'm packing today and the rain forecast keeps changing --what would you suggest I bring to be prepared (and stay dry) for heavy rain?

Rain jacket, ponchos, umbrella, extra plastic bags to keep things dry within your bag/purse, and extra shoes. We went once when it was flooding, and our shoes didn't dry for days (we did not have shoe covers). We rode Hemilich's Chew Chew train 4 times in a row, and when we finally got out, out laps had a pool of water in the poncho.

I bought my clear umbrella, shoe covers arriving today and then...I just decided I didn't want to deal with it. Dapper Day in the rain just wasn't going to cut it for me. Rescheduled my trip for mid-December and will hope I'm not caught in a blizzard leaving home...as Roseanne Roseannadnr would say..."it's always something "...

I've done both WDW and DL in the rain before and it's always been a memorable experience that we still laugh about and it's great for no crowds and you can still have fun. Go out there and enjoy!

But at my age...nah, been there, done that.

We have done DLR many times in the rain. Waterproof/water resistant shoes are nice, bring an extra pair or two of shoes and multiple pairs of synthetic socks (ex smartwool). I prefer an athletic rain jacket with arm pit ventilation and a hood vs a poncho/umbrella. Some water resistant pants are also nice. If you have a reasonably short walk to your hotel, an occasional break to dry out and change clothes is a game changer. Watch out for puddles, DLR is notorious for poor drainage. Most of the time rain = blissfully short wait times.

I'd bring:

Extra shoes
Extra extra socks
Extra pants
Rain coat
Shoe covers
Hangers to hang wet clothes up on the shower rod to dry. I don't think the ones at the hotel will fit.
Maybe a mini fan to help dry your shoes if needed.
Hoodie or sweater
Waterproof backback cover or waterproof bag to put INSIDE your backpack that you can put things in to keep them dry.
Baggies for phone, chargers, etc to keep them dry in your pocket or bag.

With the amount of rain forecast, I'd get a rain suit, the ones with pants too. A poncho isn't going to cut it if it happens as it's forecast.

Using your link, I saw a review that said someone got the exact same shoe covers from Temu for only $3. I just checked and they do have them there for about $6 for two pair, but they're only in white. Of course it takes longer to get things from Temu. I've never ordered from them but my mom used to use them for all kinds of things. I think I'm going to order some; at that price I can always order from Amazon later if the ones from Temu don't arrive in time or aren't any good. I'm near Seattle so I should have several chances to give them a test run in the rain!

Turned out to be a GORGEOUS day yesterday in the Parks. Cloudy today. I think this weekend is going to be a lot of fun - even in the rain!

It was wet today but not bad. In the morning many people had umbrellas. By noon, most of the umbrellas were put away. Many people had ponchos on - not because it was raining, but because it was easier to not take them off. More rain is expected tonight. Not torrential rain. Not floods.

The Main Street characters partnered up so that they could stand under a cover. Some were inside the corridor where A Magical Life exits (next to Mad Hatter). Handlers had umbrellas to help the characters stay dry when they were coming or going. Dapper Dans performed inside the Emporium when it was sprinkling but then moved outside when it dried up. CM did an amazing job drying off tables, sweeping up puddles, and trying to make sure that everyone had a good time.

Since you said elsewhere no Fantasmic, were fireworks cancelled as well? No parade?

Had friends there on Wednesday, said was beautiful...what a difference a day or so can make...hope all that were there had fun and made the best of it...I'm assuming wait times were low?

The parade was rainy day mode where the characters ride in covered vehicles. I am home now and haven't heard anything about fireworks. If you look at Fantasmic on the app, it says that there are no shows this evening. For fireworks, it still has it listed as 9:30 pm. Shadows of Memory, which was julesann's concern, is also still listed on the app.

I didn't pay attention to wait times. I was there to take in all of the holiday festivities.

I just checked the HoJo Mattercam and didn't see any fireworks. Someone in the chat said they've been cancelled.
