I plan to preorder out photopass because it's a better deal that way. But I'm wondering if there ever any promotional codes to knock the price down a bit more or if the $99 is the best I'm going to get? Thanks!

I couldn't find any coupon codes.

Pre-ordering is definately the best price you are going to get. In fact, rumor has it that the CD is going up by A LOT next month. Preorder now!

I called disney, I called the reservation line, I called photopass - I don't know, I love Disney, but they were so dumb about this! None of them even knew what a "promotional code" was!! I don't know if they were "playing dumb" or what, but I made several calls to several different places, and got nowhere. I want the photopass too, but I don't know if I want to spend $100 to get it. Oh well!!!

$100 is pricey ($150...the rumor price increase is worse!) BUT, the way I look at it. 25 years from now, my DD would NEVER know that I went on any vacations with her if it wasn't for photopass. I have a DSLR and DH doesn't know how to use it (nor do I trust him with it :rotfl: ). If you plan on buy 8 of the pictures they take (I had over 200 pics on the CD last year), it's worth it. If you plan to buy less than 8, than the CD isn't worth it. If you wait to buy the CD, you would have to buy 10/11 pics to make it worth it. You can always order the CD and if you don't like your pics, get your $$$ back.

As far as Disney CMs not knowing what you were talking about...don't forget, when you call "Disney", they aren't actually in Florida. They truly might not know . Also Photopass is separate company so Disney would not know their policies.

First of all, you are right about my actually WANTING to be in the pictures, I do. Though we will have both sets of grandparents with us, I know for a fact that they would be more than willing to take every single picture, especially since they probally won't want to be in any!
Also, I did call Disney, the one in Florida! I made lke 5 different phone calls, and each time, I was transfered to a different department. The guy in the photopass station (or whatever) in MK said that the area for the promotional code was just a generic thing, and that there is no actual promotional code to put in there. I don't know if I agree with that - I think its more likely that he either doesn't know the code, or there just isn't one out right now. Either way, I'm going to have to think about what I'm going to do....
Thanks!!!!!!

The promotional code space on the site is for codes off pics (sometimes after your trip they send you a code for a % off your pics or photo holiday cards. I've never seen a code for money off the CD since it's already discounted $30 if you preorder it.

If you have built in photographers traveling with you...I don't know that I'd get the CD. I'd buy maybe one photo of the whole gang in front of the castle or something.

I read somewhere that the photographers would take pictures with your camera too.

SharpMom, the $100 sounds like a lot for a CD, but you're getting the rights to those pictures. That's quite good!

If you buy a 5x7 print from Disney it will be about 12.95. You get NO rights to copy that picture. It's that one and that's it, legally speaking. With the CD, you can make copies of the CD and prints of the pictures, as many as you need, for non business reasons.

They will...technically. It's generally considered not polite to ask (like you would't ask the photographer at a wedding to take pics with your camera). If they offer, go for it. But it's very busy at Disney and MOST of them won't offer. What is more likely to happen is that if you are taking a picture with a character, the character's CM handler will offer to take pics with your camera while the Photopass person does their job. But, the Photopass cameras make a lot better quality pictures than your run of the mill point and shoot camera so you also have to take in acct the quality of the photo...if you get a well-trained Photopass Photographer, their picture quality may be much better than the one on your camera.

Hold up there, we are too disney cast members by all means, we all have yellow IDs like the rest. Green is for operating participants like rainforest cafe and balloon venders.

And the reason why disney is not answering your question on a promotional code is because there is no promotional code. It's a random email that is sent out with the link to those that have made a magic your way package through the disney reservation center. The reason being it's done that way is because they want to make sure that those recieving the email will definatly be coming to disney. (plus once they check in, they will also recieve a stack of coupons to use all around the resort on various things, like a free snack, 15$ meal coupon, 30mins on a water craft, a free 5x7 picture.) It's not easy to make a return on a photo once it's purchased in the parks. So it's definatly not easy to do a return on a cd over the internet, because your trip was canceled at the last minute. And I don't think you will get far if you try to return a CD at the discounted price if you weren't booked through a magic your way package.
And 9 times out of 10 you will talk to some one that works here in central florida, whether it be in our Tampa office or Orlando office. Only during peak season do they re-route call which could end up in Utah or Colorado.

Thank you, I didn't have questions about codes but thank you...hopefully the email will help someone.

The reason I mentioned that Photopass is separate from Disney is because that is was I was told. Last year, my package included the PhotoMovie free. Nobody at Disney was able to tell me how to redeem it (although it said it clearly on all my paperwork). None of the Photopass Photographers could tell me so I gave up on it. It was explained to me that Photopass and "WDW" were separate. Sorry for the mistake.

I think you need to spend a little bit more time in the parks. Because you are not describing photopass at all. Yes we are all photographers with great big heavy cameras that give you the biggest back ache in the world that we check out every morning. But we will all give you the same quality of service you expect from every other disney world cast member.
We will always take a photo with your camera if you ask us. Now there have been some people that have thrown their camera into our hands without even asking, and thier pictures will turn out like an ametures.
We will never object to taking a photo for you. Any one can walk up to us and ask, Can you please take a photo on our camera for us? Some of us will take the picture and let you walk off, some will stop and ask if you would like a photopass card and explain it to you. The polite thing to do at that time is to accept the card and use when we're present (especially at character locations). Whatever you do with the card when you get home is your bussiness, you're just allowing us to do our job by handing us the card.
BTW, animals need handlers, Characters have attendants to help assist with the progress. And by all means, ask the photo pass photographer to take the pictures. Because I have worked with a few attendants that can not take a photo to save thier life and if they asked me, I would've given them a better photo. Now if I know the attendant I'm working with is good with cameras and fast as I am, and a camera is handed to me, I will automatically hand it over to them so I can use my own camera more freely. A lot of times attendants aren't available because they're dealing with the line, or there's one attendant for a room with 3 characters in it, or they're at the back of the line closing it off because the character will not be returning.

You don't have to look at us like we don't exsist. We are people, we are walt disney world, and we will give you the same treatment that you expect from every other cast member here.

They did a free photoDVD to try to promote it, it's been a flop. Plus it was only something you can do on the internet. You also have to realize, many of us don't deal with the internet because as a cast member always in the park, we don't need to go to a website to do what we do in the park. (they've been trying to fix that by sending us to a two hour class on the website, but that was just as dull).
That's why the website has an email set up, that's for the internet users, and that email will get to some one that deals with all the internet stuff. We only work here in the parks and only keep current on what's changing here in our view stations.
On occasion working at Expo hall I have gotten calls from people that are at home on the website with problems and the only thing I can tell them is to use the email or give them our guest support number. On occassion I know how to trouble shoot something because I've had to do it myself on the website. But standing in that view station we have no access to the internet or the website to assist you.

I think you misunderstood my point. My point was that Photopass Photographers are PROFESSIONALS doing a job. I would NEVER ask a professional photographer to take a picture with my camera. I have THOUSANDS of pictures taken by Photopass Photographers and have never treated one poorly. Nor did I say anything negatively about Photopass or the photographers. I have been to Disney yearly and have always used Photopass. I have never had a SINGLE photographer offer to take a picture with my camera. That was my second point. I was only sharing my experience with it. This may not be the case with every photographer but has always been my experience.

Unless we see the camera in your hand and turned on, we generally don't ask to take a photo with your camera. Most people are fine to just use photopass pictures. But if you ask, no one will ever object. There's plenty of cast members that like to use other cameras. Especially when people bring in really big, fancy, expensive ones that are new on the market like the D300 or something. Cameras are toys for us, it's always fun to play with something different.
And even with the title of "professional" we're still just regular cast members doing our job. Ours just includes a camera.

Ok, I am must be photopass illiterate, I am confused! Are you paying $99 for a CD??? Does this include and paper pictures or anything else. I love photopass and have used it in the past. Even ordered the scrapbook. So if I could find out if there is anything other then a cd, please let me know.:worship:
