Premium Plan for One Night Just for the Tours, LaNouba, etc.??

We're doing the platinum plan at the Poly, and made all our 180-day ressies with IPO back in May. In late April we got our welcome letter that told us about the use of IPO services.

We just got another "Welcome" letter from the Poly concierge, this time telling us that our plan includes:

  • IPO services
  • Personalized check-in
  • Access to King Kamehaha Club lounge
  • Bathrobes
  • Turn-down service

It then encourages us to hurry up and book our meals and activities (which we did in May). Should I be concerned that they've lost all our info?

We're not staying concierge level, so can this list of services possibly be right? Anyone else get the extra concierge services (lounge, check-in, robes, turn-down) when staying Platinum but not concierge? Or does this whole letter just sound like a mistake given that we're way past our 180 days and we're not booked concierge?

It's been my understanding all along that Platinum reservations include Club Level perks and the email I received (back in May, 3 months prior to our reservation) seems to confirm that (we booked a standard room):

"Thank you for choosing Disney's Wilderness Lodge for your upcoming visit.

Your reservation includes many Concierge Club services including:

• Dedicated staff available to assist you with itinerary planning prior to and during your visit
• Personalized check-in with our dedicated Concierge staff
• Access to the Old Faithful Club, complimentary food and beverage offerings, including continental breakfast, mid-day snacks, an evening presentation of hors d'oeuvres, desserts, cordials and a selection of beers and wines
• Luxurious bath robes
• Evening turn-down service"

I also got an email on Friday regarding my upcoming Sept. Platinum trip from AKL stating:

"Thank you for choosing Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge for your upcoming visit.

Your reservation includes many Concierge Club services including:
• Dedicated staff available to assist you with itinerary planning prior to and during your visit
• Personalized check-in with our dedicated Concierge staff
• Access to the Kilimanjaro Club, complimentary food and beverage offerings, including continental breakfast, mid-day snacks, an evening presentation of hors d'oeuvres, desserts, cordials and a selection of beers and wines
• Luxurious bath robes
• Evening turn-down service "

We are in a pool-view bunkbed room, so we'll see if we are put in CL or not!

I got the same email on Fri fromWL for our Nov stay.

Got the same mail for our October trip at the Poly. Not that we'll have any time to use the Concierge lounge :)

Interesting that your letter is different. I just checked our email receipt date, and it was Friday... perhaps they realized the error in their ways before sending out the Saturday batch (though why send out the 2nd batch in that case).

Whatever... I'm good with or without extra concierge services.

Looking forward to that fireworks cruise we'll share!

That's very true!

FWIW… I forwarded the Disney Destinations email to the Animal Kingdom Lodge IPO to make sure all of my reservations are all set for our trip in Sept. Animal Kingdom Lodge IPO responded to my message with the following:

“I apologize for the email. It looks like a system glitch is causing our partners at Disney Destinations to send PIP forms out to guests who already filled them out. Your reservations are all set. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do to help make your stay a magical one.”

From all I have read, it seems that most Platinum plans are granted club level access at the Animal Kingdom and Wilderness Lodges. At the other resorts, it appears that sometimes it is granted and sometimes it is not. I will definitely report back after my Sept. trip!

Hi,
I received an email last week as well from the Y/B Club IPO welcoming me to our upcoming trip. I have received various emails all along even though everything is booked and has been booked since the 180 and 90 day mark. All the other emails did not mention the use of the club lounge... this one did! Now not that we plan on taking advantage of that because we have 7 days of the platinum plan booked with lots of dining, but I love that floor having stayed there many times. I do know that if you want club level you have to pay for that level even on this plan.. with that being said I opted to go with garden view because the only thing you don't get with the platinum plan is the lounge which I didn't think we would need or use because of all the dining. So what I am doing is saying well if we get the lounge we get it if not thats ok too. I did save the email that said we were getting that and I may or may not show it when we arrive. Though Disney pretty much covers themselves saying things may not happen as said due to changes in blah blah blah... just like the other poster who didn't get to do the sea aqua tour.... *h*t happens and sometimes Disney makes it right and sometimes they don't... Let's hope the email actually means something and is not just a glitch!!! FINGERS CROSSED!!!

We got the concierge emails too but just got our Mickey mail and it did state the regular room type. We'll see when we check in...

If it were me i would contact the WL IPO Lady that you have been working with & ask her to confirm if you have been upgraded or not,It will put you out of suspense too..

Good Luck

We were one of the folks who received those emails prior to our Platinum stay in August.

We did NOT have access to the club lounge.

We actually would not have even gotten the turndown service and robes had qwe not called to request them at 11pm when we returned from our fireworks cruise (and then waited on the balcony for another 1/2 hour)!

Kinda ruined the magic. :sad1:

WOW i am sorry that this happened to you:scared1: Did you not take the confirmation Email with u when you checked in? What resort were you in?

:goodvibes

we are doing one night premium next week, and on one of the evenings we already have the following booked:
-6pm la nouba
-9:30pm cali grill

we would like to arrive at the contemporary early in order to watch wishes (9pm) from their observation deck.

so we have an open space between la nouba's finish (7:30) and when we want to be at cali grill (9pm)

would it be crazy to try and fit a carriage ride in at 8pm at POR. we would take a cab from DTD to POR (hopefully get there a bit earlier than 8), take the carriage ride (25 mins.), then grab a cab from POR to the contemporary.

think this can be done? might be too stressful, right?

will check-in at cali grill just before 9pm be a madhouse?

Hi, we are about to do our one night on Platinum next week and I have a couple of questions about V&A.

1) I thought I read somewhere that someone from V&A will call you before the trip to ask about food preferences to tailor the menu for you? Did I dream this? DH and I are very picky eaters and I know generally this may not be the best restaurant for us b/c of that, but I thought if we could be "guaranteed" that they would offer beef or pork or something, we'd be ok. DH will try game and buffalo, but I could not even think of doing that.

2) I know jackets are required, but I think I read that ties are optional? Is that right? If so, will DH be out of place not wearing a tie? We're seeing Cirque right before and didn't want to be ridiculously over dressed for that, as we're going straight to V&A after.

Those are my main questions but if anyone has anything else that you think would be helpful for us to know, that would be great. I've read a few reviews and I'm not even sure how you would eat some of the things I've seen in pictures, so I'm a bit nervous! But we really just wanted to experience it, so we'll be happy even if we leave hungry!

Anyone get a call about this"

"I got a call two days ago from Disney telling me that our reservation at Epcot DiveQuest could not be honored because they were having to suspend it indefinitely. They said it had to do with "animal safety" and it seemed to affect all the guest interaction programs at the Living Seas.

The Disney rep was calling 300 or so guests over the coming weeks. Does anyone know what lead to this?"

I wish they would honor something like Wild Africa Trek if this is going to be for a while.

The restaurant will tailor the meal for you if you sit at Chefs Table, but it is a la carte for the Dining room - although I am sure they will accommodate a particular need. If you go to the V&A website you can preview the menu and you can see that there are many choices including beef and pork. And I promise - buffalo isn't that different from beef!

Whilst a jacket is required for men, tie is optional.

I am sure you will have a lovely lovely dinner and find plenty that you enjoy!

V&A did indeed call us and tailor the menu - and we were not at the chef's table.

I do not eat seafood and my menu did not have a stitch of seafood while DH's had seafood choices for every course!

Gee - I have never had a phone call from them on previous trips - and no call on my upcoming up one either. I can think of two differences: `1. I am international and perhaps that makes me unworthy. and 2. Did you note in your booking that you had dietary requirements - as you note above you don't eat seafood. whereas I have not declared any. Just wondering if that is one way to generate a call

When I made the reservation I was told that I would receive a phone call prior to our arrival in order to confirm and discuss any "dietary needs."

I believe the call came about 5 days prior to our arrival and when I was asked if I had any dietary restrictions, I told her no restrictions but that I do not eat seafood. She told me then that they would accommodate my tastes.

We have to cancel our entire trip. My sister's just too sick to go at this point.

I'm wondering if we modify the dates of our package for next year, will they honor the one-night package instead of the new 3-nights minimum ?

Well - this is good news - more service than I anticipated! Also, sadly suggests to me that I fall into the "we don't call internationally". :sad1: now someone else from Australia will tell me that they got a call!

Last year when we booked they told us about the dress code and I made DH schlemp a suit jacket - in June - for this one meal. When we arrived, they could have loaned him one - but they didn't tell us that in advance either. I am the sad sad lonely Australian. Just as well I have these boards to find out the full story.

If that makes you feel any better, we're French and never get called about anything either. Not that it makes a difference now, but we didn't get a call about V&A, or about the problems they are having now at the Seas, and our very first trip if it hadn't been for this board we would have gotten to our resort and be surprised that it was a construction site.
And of course no more DME luggage tags for us either since Disney can't afford a couple extra stamps!

Oh yes - No Tags For You!! thank you for joining my pity.

I will admit that the IPO has been great and sent me a reminder last week asking was there any more she could do. So I re-arranged the whole trip. :cool1:

but Marivaid - this is the least of your concerns right now. I don't know if WDW will honour a 1 night booking - but I do hope your sister's health improves quickly and I am sorry that it must be severe enough to cause cancellation - and sorry you lose your holiday. Go well!

DH remembered his suit jacket - but forgot his dress shirt!!

He called V&A's and they put him through to a store next door where the CM pulled out & pressed a shirt for him. (a $100 shirt mind you!) We then hopped the boat from WL with him wearing a suit coat with no shirt. The CM's thought it was hilarious!
