There's the question we all are wondering.

Ok, so called MS and specifically asked about vouchers. Was told no. Politely asked why. Pretty much got a "because" kind of answer. Said I wanted to complain about the policy. She put me on hold. Offered to transfer to a manager, or could email through DVC members.com. Voiced a complaint about the policy to the manager.. Politely.. Said it felt like a bit of a slap in the face. They apologized, said they'd report the complaint but had no control on the policy. Confirmed MYW tix were upgradeable.

So to those interested in trying to create change, politely call MS and ask for a manager, email DVC members and try emailing Claire bilby's official email address: could also try cbilby or bilby at Disney but that is just guessing.

Hopefully they will change this. But still a great deal if they don't. With a UT ticket could get it for even better

I'm looking at it that MS is not actually ticketing. To me it makes sense to wait and see what happens on Oct 1st when someone with a valid DVC AP asks to upgrade it to a PAP at Guest Relations. ymmv

Thank you so much for this info. I did call MS about the regular DVC AP several days ago and was politely told "no upgrade". I did proceed to sit down and write DVC a nice long email.

I NEED a pass on Sept 26 upon arrival to WDW. Had planned on getting a DVC AP, but now considering a 4 day MYW hopper. My understanding is as long as I have 1 day left on it I can upgrade to the DVC PAP ? Never done this before. Do they just charge you the difference between what I paid for my MYW vs the PAP. Was planning on getting MYW from Undercover Tourist---will it still be upgradeable ?

If so, my approximate upgrade calculations (tax included):
MYW 4 day hopper from UT on Sept 26 = $311
DVC PAP on Oct 6 = $425
So I would owe---> $114 for the upgrade 10 days later ?

UT is $20 LESS than purchasing from WDW ahead of time....just want to make sure it's still upgradeable buying from a second party ???

Ok, so called MS and specifically asked about vouchers. Was told no.

I think there must be some communication mixup since the announcement specifically states that the passes can be purchased from 10/1-12/31/12 and need to be activated by 12/31/13. That would mean a voucher (or will call if they won't send a physical voucher - same difference in use but might be what is causing the problem in communication).

This is the reference piece from the announcement:

"Insider's Tip: A Premium Annual Pass certificate is not activated as a ticket until it is used the first time. So, if you've already purchased an Annual Pass, you can still take advantage of this offer by purchasing it now (between Oct. 1 and Dec. 31, 2012), but waiting to activate it until after your current pass has expired. Passes purchased on this offer must be redeemed by December 31, 2013."

Once we reach Oct 1st and the product is available you'll probably be able to purchase it online.

I agree with kat4disney. I don't think MS knows what they are talking about. I would rely much more on Cheshire Figment's postings here. Unless you speak with someone that works in Ticket Services, you often will get wrong info on the phone pertaining to tickets.

Your numbers looks wrong. The PAP is $399. $425 was the DVC AP price announced before, in June.

I'm talking about upgrading a DVC AP voucher to
A PAP voucher under the discount plan as of OCt 1. The answer from MS was no. Unaware of a communication gap, but please let me know if I'm misunderstanding or misstating something.

I was referring to upgrading an already owned regular DVC voucher. Kat4disney appears to
Have misunderstood what I was referring too.

Given the newness of the announcement I don't know of Cheshire Figment or MS truly has the last word yet. I think it's going to us waiting until Oct 1 and then seeing what happens when someone try's to upgrade their AP to the PAP.

My hope is MS is wrong. But emails sent advocating on behalf of upgrades can't hurt.

At the least it will teach Disney to spell out No previous purchased ticket media elgible for upgrades. Like in the fine print of the 10% merchandise discount.

Which also is keeping my hope alive that MS is wrong right now.

Actually you can do better. I saw some worth $35 off face value that cost under the PAP cost. Some with and without the WPAM add ons

What a great deal. My annual pass expires in May, but it's a FL resident pass and I pay monthly. My husbands expires in August. Since we may be moving to Orlando having the water parks included would be awesome.
So my understanding is we can both buy the DVC premium pass but can wait to activate them when mine expires in May 2013, and the other in August 2013. Right?

Just was going off the response about wondering the same thing when someone asked about being able to upgrade their current AP and if they could also buy a voucher. Then you referred to a voucher so it seemed like you were talking about being able to purchase a voucher also but it's something different.

Now I understand you are talking about having an Deluxe AP voucher, thus in essence wanting to switch from what will be an existing AP to the new DVC PAP. I'd throw the voucher part as it isn't really relevant and might be part of the problem since they do not refund vouchers and MS might be looking at it that way. Unless you are really wanting to simply exchange the voucher for the PAP voucher and are not intending to activate until 2013. And that I could understand not being allowed.

Frankly, MS is not in ticketing. Sometimes they don't even know about certain DVC rooms. The CM that works tickets seems pretty clear on being able to essentially "downgrade".

Hi Vicki...
I posted the prices to include the tax which is 6.5%.

Really ? Can you point me in the direction please ? These were hoppers from UT. Thanks.

Your math is almost right. If you will use the UT ticket at least once and then upgrade to DVC PAP - they should bridge the price for you. Price bridging as per CF and Ticket sticky.
UT 4day PH is $312.75 <--you pay
DVC PAP $425 <--upgrade to this after at least one use
Gate 4day PH is $333.35 <--get credit for this
You would owe the difference between DVC PAP & Gate 4dayPH $91.65
$20 cheaper than gate price Total price is $404.4

There are 2 options which get you more savings under the same scenario:
A.
UT 6day PH $326.94 <-- you pay
DVC PAP $425 <-- upgrade after at least one use
Gate 6day PH $356.78 <-- get credit for this
Pay difference of $68.16
$29.64 cheaper than gate price Total price is $395.1

B.
UT 5day WP&M $311.95 <-- you pay
DVC PAP $425 <-- upgrade after at least one use
Gate 5day WP&M $346.13 <-- get credit for this
Pay difference of $78.81
$34.18 cheaper than gate price Total price is $390.76
This is the best option that I have seen

Of course if you are signed up for mousesavers newsletter you can get some more money off. The newsletter comes out on the 15th of each month.

Wow Moobar ! Thanks so much for laying it all out like that. Really appreciate it. Never upgraded a pass before--despite somewhere around 50-60 visits to WDW ! And yes --I do get the Mousesaver's newsletter :)

Just clarifying - sounds like you understand but for those who may not:

If you want your year to start in 2013, you must call MS between 10/1/2012 and 12/31/2012 and get either an exchange certificate (voucher) or a will call number. Then you must go to Guest Relations on site to get the actual pass on or before 12/31/2013. Your year of admission begins when you exchange the certificate or will call number for the actual pass.

If you buy the new pass on site, you get the actual pass and your year starts immediately.

FWIW, I do not think you can buy a new annual pass if you have an active annual pass. But the DVC promotion is only good between 10/1/2012 and 12/31/2012, so you have to get an exchange certificate (voucher) or will call number during that time. It costs extra to have the exchange certificate mailed to you. No charge to get a will call number.

There may be a link from the Members' Website to buy the new pass after 10/1/2012

I didn't say what you were quoting, so I can't answer. You somehow connected me with a quote from someone else.

Can you buy a voucher onsite? Or are vouchers only available via phone or internet?

The reason I ask is that I have an unused 1-day MYW parkhopper that I'd like to use towards the purchase of a voucher between 10/1/12 and 12/31/12 and activate next May.
