Hello,

I am thinking of purchasing a PAP for our trip in June and was wondering if it is best to purchase one now, or wait until we arrive?

If I understand correctly, we can receive annual pass discounts on room reservations if we say we "intend to buy an Annual Pass", but are there any advantages to buying one ahead of time?

We also intend to purchase the Disney Dining Experience for the extra $60.00 since we will be a group of 6 adults and with the 20% discount we should be able to save a lot.

Can I purchase the PAP in Ottawa at the Disney Store at Bayshore? Any idea what they charge in Canadian $? I think the U.S. amount is $596.00 including tax.

One last thing. I thought we could activate the pass when we check in at OKW, but somewhere I read we have to activate it at a park. Is this a hassle?

Thanks for any help.

I have never heard of an annual pass for anyone other than Florida residents. I will be curious to see how everyone responds.

Annual passes are available to purchase if you are a DVC member.
There is a huge savings ($100/$125 PAP) for members.:cool1: I think the only other say to purchase one is if you are a Florida resident, but could be wrong:confused3 .
Since pjmoore14, is staying at OKW, perhaps they are a member.
If so, they should check out the member web site, all details are outlined there.
If you are planning more than 1 trip/year, it's a great savings.
I'm quite sure you cannot purchase them at the Disney store here.
I'm not poisitive though as we will be getting our first ones for our Nov. trip.:woohoo:

We have PAP's...

*sigh*
They're expiring on February 4th..think there's any way to sneak one more trip in??:teeth:

Anyway!

Yes, anyone can buy APs or PAPs.
Sadly not from the CAD Disney Stores though.
You can call WDW and purchase them over the phone..tell them when you call that you want to order your DDE as well. They'll make sure to give you your voucher number right then, and then they'll transfer you to Dining, and you can order your card.

Remember, though, that your PAP expires from the date of activation, but the DDE expires from the month you ordered it.

So, if you're planning more than one trip in the June/June window of your PAP, and want to use your DDE card in the June/June time frame, hold off on ordering it now.

You'll be issued a voucher for the PAPs, which you have to activate at *any* Guest Relations office(including DTD)...or ticket window at the Parks. You have to have picture id for everyone that's getting them.

And yes, you can book rooms without having the voucher.

HTH!!

mbb,

Thanks for all the info and the great tip about DDE. I really appreciate this.

If you know that the price is not going up,there really is no advantage to buying in advance (keep your money in your own pocket until you have to).
We simply (on our first day) went to Guest Relations at DTD and within a few minutes had all our AP's (no line ups or waiting...easy).

I thought I read that you had to have vouchers in order to keep up on the AP or PAP discounts for resorts...and a voucher number in order to obtain said discounts when booking - you don't?

Hmm...We are pondering the AP for the next trip...

Thanks to the OP for asking & to those with the info!

As far as I know, you don't have to...now that may have changed - it's been a year since I checked;);)

If you do have to have the voucher, it wouldn't be a big deal while on the phone with WDW....

They'll easily charge your cc right then!! LOL!

...and give you your voucher number over the phone to apply to any room booking:)

HTH!!
