Premier Passport - taxes difference buying in FL or CA?

Hi,
I will be purchasing a Premier Passport soon - my DL pass expires in October and I have a trip to WDW coming up in November. I was thinking of buying the Premier passport at Disneyland before my trip to avoid worrying about it in Orlando, but are taxes on the pass cheaper if I just buy it in Orlando? Also, I'm having problems finding the final cost of the Premier pass - I see that it's $1029 + taxes, but am not sure what the tax rate is.

Thanks Michael! So I calculated it to be about $1062.44 Do you know if the pass is activated the day you buy it or is it the first time you go through the turnstile? I'm wondering whether I can buy it early to set up fastpass plus (for the trip) but not have the year mark start until I arrive in Orlando.

On a side note, I was going through old papers and found a passport renewal form from a few years ago touting the Premier Passport at $749!! (only $50 more than a Disneyland Premium Annual pass now )

It depends on "how" you buy it. If you get is an upgrade when your renew your DLR AP, then the PAP will have the same expiration date at your DLR AP. If you let your DLR AP lapse and buy a "new" PAP, then it'll have the expiration date based on the first time it is used to enter a park. I do not know how AP vouchers and FP+ work.

I currently have a DL Premium Passport. If I upgrade it to Premier in Florida, I assume I'll just be paying tax on the difference? If so, it might be slightly cheaper to always buy a Disneyland AP first. (Plus, since I live in L.A., I can take advantage of the interest-free payment plan on the DL AP.)

On a related note, it's amazing how great a deal the Premier Pass was just a few years ago. I guess they quickly realized they could raise the price by a lot... now you have to be a lot more committed to visiting both coasts in order to breakeven on the pass.

Yeah Tell me about it, I'm on my 3rd, and its crazy how much its gone up and the benefits have gone down.

Either way, it still pays for itself a dozen times over for me

When I upgraded the last time, you had to pay the same price (including tax) regardless of which park you buy the ticket. Essentially, tax is charged on half price of the Premier AP because tax is charged on theme park tickets in FL.
