Hubby and I just booked our vacation to disneyland !🄳 It was done through getaway and so I'm waiting on the tickets to make the reservation for the parks. We will be going right before New Years and purchased a 2 day park hopper with genie+. Hotel is just under a mile from the parks on Harbor blvd.
Im a disney vet that used to be able to get on all the rides in dlr before midday...but that was the old days lol... 2015 and years before that...needless to say Im out of sync and dont know to plan my days with this new app thing and the new lands they have added. I will be 6 months pregnant with my second and this will be our babymoon. My concern is any policy that disney might have regarding riding. How strict are CMs with not letting you ride? Can disney actually say anything? I want to ride Radiator springs racers. I definitely get tossled around more in day to day traffic and pot holes...and will probably experience bumpier rides on the airplanes. I know there are warnings, but they also warn about people with heart conditiona and I have a pacemaker and have done everything there for so many years. My hubby is also an MD and supposedly it would take a lot of force to cause placental abruptions (like from an MVC), unless the mom has any predisposing factors, which I dont For now.
Im telling my OB about everything we are planning, but I wanted to know what you all rode while pregnant and how any bathroom trips might have interrupted waiting in line? How can I work around that without the obvious go before lining up?

Is a wheelchair necessary or nah?
Also...very confused about dining! Do you order your food on the phone and the go to the place and tell the cm?

My wife has gone dozens of times while pregnant. (And is currently pregnant and still going a bunch.)

We have the luxury of a pass so we can have a slower pace to our days. I think you have to just be very aware of your comfort level and take breaks when needed.

As for what rides you should and should not go on I’m no where near qualified to say. I know that my wife feels confident enough to do rise of the resistance despite the warnings (although we haven’t yet.) That’s the maximum intensity she goes on though. I frequently think ā€œif your pregnancies can handle being in the car with me then Indiana jones should be a cakewalk.ā€ She knows her body though so I let her draw that line. The rides aren’t going anywhere.

LOL at "handle being in car with me" thanks for the advice! I'll definitely make a judgement based on how I feel by the time we're there and what my body is telling me not do besides the obvious ones. Have you ever had any problems with a CM not letting you ride even though your wife feels it is safe?

Well she hasn’t really tested it so I really can’t say. But I don’t think they are allowed to ask or be too up front with the rules beyond a basic ā€œjust so you knowā€¦ā€ and then lists all the health warnings. What if you aren’t pregnant and just look pregnant. Now it’s a guest service/viral social media problem.

My understanding is they have as much power to stop you from getting on a ride as any poster here who might say ā€œI wouldn’t do it if I were youā€

I went to Disneyland when I was 8 months pregnant. RSR was the only ride I went against the guidelines and rode. Placental abruption is not the only thing you have to worry about, your ligaments are very loose and stretchy when you’re pregnant. The more you’re jostled around, the looser and more stretched out they can become. Loose and stretched out ligaments can cause a lot of pain, especially when doing a lot of walking and going from sitting to standing, standing to sitting, etc. And it’ll likely cause issues during the rest of your pregnancy.

As far as your other questions go, I didn’t have a CM question me getting on RSR. I doubt they’re allowed to because it would mean they are assuming you have a medical condition. I didn’t have any issues with bathroom breaks, I just always went to the bathroom before we got in line. I didn’t need a wheelchair but we stayed at GCH so the walk back to the hotel was super short.

Something to keep in mind is that the majority of Genie+ rides are going to be for rides you cannot go on. You’ll be spending a lot of time by yourself if you’re husband ends up going on them. I usually picked a new snack I wanted to try and found a bench to eat it on while people watching.

The CMs won't stop you, though they may remind you it isn't recommended. Realistically, it isn't the ride that is going to cause a problem, it is more a sudden stop if the ride E-stops. The lap bars and belts become extremely tight. I used too say RSR would be no different than riding in a car at 35 MPH, until we E-stopped once right at the finish line. I would not have wanted to be pregnant. The lap belt tightened and it was uncomfortly tight. I have since changed my tune.

CMs will leave the decision on the risk acceptance to you. But they usually will remind you.

That would be super awkward if someone wasn't pregnant and they gave a reminder. I can understand it's probably better safe than sorry, but that would be awful.

When I rode IJ in February it was the worst it has ever been.
Talk about a ROUGH RIDE!!! Whoa Nellie....
The Matterhorn was smoother than Indy for that trip.

If IJ on the list you might have your husband ride solo first to see the intensity for the ride that day..

Have a fun trip!

thank you so much for such insightful replies! I do realize that E stops may be thing by chance when Im riding whichever ride so I'll think about it when the time comes. space mountain is one i wont be doing.

As for IJ I did think of sending hubby first but my sister told me the ride is just like when we rode during all our childhood trips...and where I live, the potholes and swerving are like riding Indy no joke lol. Also, Im waiting to see if airplane turbulence makes me feel uneasy about anything and that can maybe help me guage what I wont do. We have to travel cross the contryu plus some sea to get to DLR.

we bought the genie+ and was thinking of getting LL for smugglers, indy, rsr, haunted mansion, and soaring.

my app tells me park hours are 9am-9pm for end if december (the days i booked). Is this true? I thought we would the regular 8-12.

Love this! Will definitely try out snacks when hubby is in ride lol

I have been multiple times while pregnant and the only one I rode against the warning signs was Autopia. The only reason that one has warning (that I can think of) is just in case someone bumps you from behind so I just had whoever I was traveling with ride in the car behind me so I knew it wasn't some young kid who would ram into me :)

My only issue I had on a ride while pregnant was actually on Mr. Toad because the ride stopped, the lights turned on and we had to exit. The timing of them stopping the ride stopped one of the cars(not the one I was in) in a doorway between two rooms and when they came to walk people out of the ride and we got to that place where the car was stopped in the doorway my belly was exactly the height of the widest part of the car and I couldn't fit through that spot to exit. The poor cast member was so horrified and embarrassed when I said ummm I can't fit through there and just had me wait in the room and he came back and walked me the other way (back through the start of the ride instead of towards the end of the ride) but I kept telling him it was no big deal and I was fine. I thought it was hilarious that I got stuck on Mr. Toad and couldn't exit with my big belly.

I did make more bathroom trips but never had to get out of line for it. Make sure you drink lots of water, listen to your body and take breaks when you need them. I loved taking a break in Carthay Circle Lounge and sitting at the bar having a mocktail and snack. The bartenders are great and if you tell them the types of flavors or cocktails you like they will make up something fabulous and non alcoholic for you to drink.

OP, just a funny remark :)

My daughter was 6 months pregnant with her 3rd while at Disney. All went well and she just went on what she felt she could handle.

After her daughter was born and got older, she complained that She "never got to see Disney" and it wasn't fair to her since the other 2 boys got to go. So, they made a trip for her to WDW. She never let them forget that she didn't see a thing, LOL. Just a warning that your child might hold you to a trip to disney too!!

What app are you seeing those hours in? My DL app doesn't have hours out that far, nor does their website. In years past, the last weeks of Dec have been 8-12.

It's in my DL app on the days I have reserved, they are 9am-9pm when I tap on "my day" in "tip board" and that bummed me out so much! Says I cant park hop until 2pm. I don't how to share a screenshot here but sure enough my disneyland app says 9am-9pm park hours. Seems absurd for last two weeks of December

OKOK... I see it. Don't count on those hours. We go every year at that time. It will be 8-11 or 12.

This is really odd as I just made a reservation to try and see what you are seeing. My confirmation does not show any times or a park hop time. Could you be looking at WDW??
So the confirmation doesnt show park time. Once u go into the confirmation page of your app, you can press on the day or go to tip board>>my day after youve selected youre reserved day. It will then display park hours. Definitely reserved DLR! not wdw.

Edit: so my dec 28 says "disneyland park 9am-9pm".And dec 29 reservation "my day" on the app says "disneyland resort" with no hours.

Can anyone tell me what to expect 8am-10am crowds to be like these dates? In the past, those two hours were golden to get so much done on standby lined and really just soak in the disneyland ambience

So, Not DL, but I did go to WDW while pregnant a lot. I went on pretty much everything within reason. After the 1st trimester I avoided coasters, ToT, Dinosaur (same ride system as Indy), and Test Track. I rode pretty much everything else - including RotR and Splash Mountain. I'm sure there's plenty who would be horrified at what I chose to ride, but It's all up to your own comfort level and how you're feeling that day.

Love this! Thank you so much for telling me your experience.
