I was looking to possibly get a pass for lines.

I am 7 weeks pregnant    and standing in the hot sun, actually standing just for a while not in the sun, is going to be a no no.

No big deal if it is not an approved item. I realize it is norm, and not a handicap and could do FP and sit out a bunch. I was wondering if 1) this is something that DW allows for it, and 2 do I need a drs note for this?
I feel silly calling up my Dr to write a note.. with no standing in the sun or standing for long periods of time. ... but maybe this is comman.. I D K.

PS 7 day count down to the BC! YA - HOOOOOOOOO!
Thanks!

Is there something else going on? Because I've never heard you can't stand when you're only 7 weeks pregnant?

Unless you have something else going on that hasn't been mentioned, just use fast pass as much as possible, stay hydrated, wear a hat, put on lots of sunblock and take lots of sit down breaks between lines.

Congrats on the baby. When I was pregnant with my second child I had to stay out of the heat. Even very early in my pregnancy if I got hot I would get light headed and even passed out a few times, so I know how you feel. For the most part, the rides with the longest lines you will not be able to ride so you don;t have to worry much there. For the others you may want to stop by guest services and explain you condition with the sun. If they think a GAC will help you they will give you one. It will not shorten your waiting time at all and may make it longer so if you are having trouble standing for long times then they will recommend a wheelchair. Also don;t forget about all the walking that you will be doing getting to and from the rides.

I think you will be fine sweetie. ;) I couldn't even tell I was pregnant at 7 weeks with all three of mine. Seven months, yes, but not seven weeks. Go have fun!!:wizard: And congratulations on the baby!! :)

Thanks for the advice.. and wdwmom.. On a scale of 1 - 10 for feelings.. I am already at garbage :rotfl2: .. And was the whole time with dd6.. Threw up 6 times a day even into month 8. .. But she turned out perfect and that is all I hope for.

I will heed the advice relax, and not worry. We are not super big riders, but DH might enjoy a little one on one with DD6 and I can be in charge of holding the popcorn.

I will ask for the GAC and either way will be good to go. I will skip the drs note as well. THANKS for the advice! I will have frozen water bottles, and a hat packed with me too.

Please don't ask for a GAC just for being 7 weeks pregnant. It's not a disability; abusing the system in this way is going to ruin the whole program for people who actually need them. :sad2:

I think if they gave out GAC for every pregnant person at person in Disney, they would be giving out a lot. I wouldn't ask, but be aware of your limits.

You should know that a GAC will not shorten your wait time, the distance walked, or the amount of time standing. If you cannot stand in lines, you should look into renting a wheelchair or ECV. You can take a wheelchair or ECV into almost all ride lines, which means you will have a guaranteed place to sit.

The GAC even says right on it that you will not be skipping any lines and that it is not designed to shorten wait times.

I think a wheelchair or ECV for you might be more helpful.

Agreed.
Asking for special accommodations because you're 7 weeks pregnant is absurd IMO.

:thumbsup2 without shortening the lines.. prolly FP is the way to go. thanks!

Did you mean to say you will not ask for the GAC? I really hope that is what you meant because asking for one for being 7 weeks pregnant is ridiculous IMO. I would cancel my trip if things were really that bad.

Everyone please - let's be very careful not to judge who needs an accommodation based on an internet post. We need to be careful not to play the "disabled enough" game. The OP is the only one who knows her body, so she gets to make the decision.

this may be off topic, but what is a GAC?
GAC stands for Guest Assistance Card.
Even though many people think it is pass, that is not what it is.
It actually is just a card that alerts Cast Members that someone might have a need for assistance that might not be visible.

As was already posted, GACs are not meant to shorten the wait, usually don't shorten the distance walked and usually don't provide anywhere to sit.

There is more information about GACs in post 6 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread. You can find that thread near the top of this board or follow the link in my signature.

Also, it is important to understand thAt some attractions DO involve standing for a period of time, even if there is no wait. This is often for shows, wher you will stand somewhere waiting while the show before your is happening. That wait can be a few minutes to as long as 15 minutes with nowhere to sit unless you have a wheelchair, ECV or other mobility device.

Women with normal pregnancies and no other health concerns don't usually have to be concerned about things like being in line at WDW ( in fact, I know someone who ran thru her pregnancy and was even in a 10 K race a few days before she delivered). Other women do have problems, even that early in pregnancy - I have mitral valve prolapse and just standing up to walk 15 feet was aerobic exercise to me, even that early in pregnancy. I don't see how a GAC could have helped me though and if I had gone to WDW, I would have opted for a wheelchair or ECV, frequent rests and using a touring plan.

Since the OP's question was answered , I am closing his thread.
