Pregnancy and rides

Hi! Congrats! I actually called Disney about this a couple weeks ago. I talked for quite awhile with a cast member about rides that would be safe. Of course I'd check with your Ob, but here is what she told me:
Safe rides:
Frozen
Soarin
Imagination
(I'm assuming Spaceship Earth as well although I didn't ask because that's too long in the dark for DD 3)
Toy Story
Peter Pan
Pirates
Dumbo
Jungle Cruise
Haunted Mansion
Winnie the Pooh
Kilimanjaro Safari (I specifically asked about this one.)

Not recommended/not safe:
Test Track
Mission Space
Tower of Terror
Star Tours
Rock n Rollercoaster
7 Dwarfs
Splash Mtn.
Space Mtn.
Thunder Mtn.
Dinosaur
Kali River Rapids (She said because of the bumping that can happen.)

I hope this helps a little. The CM I talked with was double checking on specific rides I asked about. I'm not sure if she was using the description or if they have something in the computer system about pregnancy. I didn't think to ask.

I would think the safari ride would be okay too, but the website says expectant mothers shouldnt ride. I'm going early next month and my wife is opting out of the Safari ride because of it. I mean better safe than sorry, but I dont remember the ride being remotely bumpy. It's kind of a bummer though because my daughter is very into animals and she will miss that whole experience :(.

Edit: My wife would be missing the experience of my daughter's face through the ride. My daughter will get to ride :).

You could always take your daughter and let your wife have some down time. Also, the safari ride appears to be one that a lot of pregnant women go on (apparently riding up front minimizes the bouncing). She could explain the ride to her OB and get their opinion on it. Also timing during pregnancy has a big play, i.e. week 14 is far less of a risk then like week 30. Finally, Disney is going to err on the side of being overly cautious because they really don't want to deal with a lawsuit if something happens; so the risk could be extremely minimal but still get the expectant mothers warning (or maybe they just don't want women who are past due going on it to bring on labor ;)

I also opted out of the safari when I was pregnant. I was only 15 weeks, but I had a total "better safe than sorry" mentality about everything regarding my pregnancy. I'm sure I was over-cautious in a lot of respects, but I totally understand your wife's concern.

However, I don't understand why you and your daughter can't ride?

Oh my daughter and I will be riding. I guess I wrote it a little weird. Just bummed my wife won't be on the ride with us and see my daughter's reaction to the animals during the ride.

I think you might be right about the 'bringing on labor' bit. I've heard of some crazy stuff people have done for that, haha.

I've been to WDW around 16 weeks pregnant in the past, and avoided most of the stuff that was restricted...with the exception of Kilimanjaro Safaris. I had no issues there. But it is really up to you. I'll be around 12 weeks pregnant on our trip next month, and I am just going to play it by ear and see how I feel. I've been everything enough to know what's too bumpy and what isn't. But Disney has to cover its butt.
