preferred viewing?

I have heard mention of this a few times and was just wondering what this means exactly and how do you get it?

I think for things like fireworks and parades it means a roped off area close by..i've only ever seen it offered with packages such as the magic your way package with dining etc.

Im sure when i looked on the Disney site - you get it if you stay in at least a moderate resort - it is roped off areas in Epcot and Magic Kingdom for firework displays.

We have been going to MK for YEARS and just recently came upon a roped off area (with chairs) and a CM manning the rope line just before a parade was due to start.

Apparently this seating is available for first come/first served each day. All you have to do is check in with guest services and request it. You get a pass of some sort and must show it to the CM on the rope line. If you face the front of the castle, the seats would be toward your left just as you arrive at the wooden bridge to adventureland.

I don't know if a similar thing is offered for fireworks.

we're getting preferred fireworks viewing for Illuminations and Wishes as part of our booking with Disney (went through the UK site). You do need to stay in a moderate resort or higher. There's a few other perks like a free round of miniature golf.
You do need to book the preferred viewing for your chosen dates, did that yesterday. You then get a booking number which you will need to present at least 15 minutes before the "show".

I'm very excited find this thread as We've got these for when we go Jan 2009 and was wondering what it entailed. We're staying at AKL and booked through disney!

you'll get a voucher with the contact details with your travel docs. It's just the Disney UK reservations number. Just call them a week or 2 in advance to make the bookings.

We are going in July and have the preferred viewing as we are staying at POR & AKL. Had read somewhere that you had to book, but wondered how and was going to wait until we got there.

However, may book now, just to make sure.

Don't suppose anyone knows if they offer rain-checks??

if you are staying DVC does that count as moderate or higher? And how would we go about booking this if it does - do we contact Member Services?

I would not be interested in the castle preferred viewing but definitely would for the Epcot fireworks
