Just curious if Preferred view(not boardwalk view) is there a chance to have a long walk to our room?

Yes, both BWV view and Preferred view rooms can be a long walk down the corridors.

I have had two completely different preferred views..one was overlooking the Village Green (actually have had the exact same studio twice)..2 doors down from the elevators. Then, I had a villa overlooking the quiet pool at Community Hall, and the canal, S/D. I was about 3 villas from the end of the bldg...stairway dropped you at the walkway to MGM and tennis courts. That villa was about 230 steps from the elevator!!! So, obviously, you can have very different distances with the same type view.

Think of the Jack Nicholson movie, The Shining, and the kds riding that 3 wheel thing down that long hall.............................

:rotfl: That's what my DH said when we looked down the hall the last time we were there.

Is there a map posted anywhere that shows the rooms numbers and which are standard and which P/S?

This does not have room #'s but you can get an idea.

The elevator is at J.

Standard views are facing the driveway down to the pond.
Preferred pool/garden views face the right side of the page and also between J and K (studios only).
Boardwalk view is above the boardwalk.

As you can see, any of the views have some rooms close to the elevator and some far. I've stayed there many times and unless you have a physical disability, it's not as bad as some people make it.

Yep..... it can be a long long walk to the lobby.
One trip we had the 2nd to last room at the end, above Jelly Rolls. The walk in the morning didn't seem so bad.
However..... walking back after a long day of park hopping... it seemed like we would never get to our room. It felt like they moved our room because it felt like a shorter walk when we left in the morning!!

Someone was nice enough to send me the floor plans..I can't scan or I would. I recently returned and was in a studio, 4020, which was steps from the elevator. It was wonderful..

What type of room will you be in?

HI!

I would be staying in a studio one trip and I am thinking of a 1 bedroom for the other. :goodvibes

We would have a 1 bedroom preferred view(not BW view) Where would they put me?

You could be looking out over Luna Park, the main pool area. You could be overlooking the quiet pool and Community Hall, with the canal behind it and the S/D. You could be on the other end, towards JellyRolls and overlook the croquet lawn with the S/D behind it. Or you could get really lucky and overlook the Village Green, with a view of the boardwalk off to the side. That's one of my favorite areas.

I have had all views at BWV and honestly have never had a "bad" room. We will be in a BW view room next July and I am so looking forward to it!

I believe the Village Green view is only studios for preferred pool/garden. There is a 1 bedroom above the corner with the boardwalk, I had that room one time as a boardwalk view.

The walk can be long, but its overplayed here.

We had a much longer walk from our AKL room to Mara than anything at BWV. My parents walk at WL to the pool was longer than any we've had at BWV. Stayed at the far end of the Poly Longhouses once - though the grounds there are lovely to walk in, it wasn't a short walk.

There are long walks at BWV - there are long walks at almost any Disney resort - they are just generally pretty big and pretty spread out.

Oh good... I've stayed at AKL and had the furtherest room from the pool. I am serious. There were only 2 other rooms that were farther than us. The walk was ridiculous and 2 elevators to get there.

I have a friend there now who is bringing me back a map.
Is it possible to get a BW view room AND be near the Luna pool.
I have little ones, not sure how their legs would last...
What types of rooms would those be? Preferred, studio, etc???
Thanks

We had a pack a lunch to get to Mara room at AKL too. I think the longest walk at BWV is shorter than that.

we had a quiet pool view room earlier this month and the walk was not that bad,

One plus was when we wanted to walk to MGM we were that much closer..

Yes, but... All the Boardwalk View rooms are on the second floor or above. Luna Park is off the first floor. Which means you can be pretty close to Luna Park, but have to take stairs or the elevator to get there - and if your "little ones" can't take stairs, you need to figure its an elevator trip. That's why "close to the elevators" is such a common request (Luna Park is right off the elevators). That's true of everything but ground floor rooms at BWV in any view category.

The best pool access we had was on the ground floor, some of those you can walk out your patio door (preferred view) to the pool. We had a standard view room that was a short walk down the hall to the pool.

Luna Park however is the worst DVC pool for "little ones" in my opinion. SSR and BCV and VAKL have zero entry pools, much better for smaller kids. SSR and BCV have toddler slides, and the only slide at VAKL is pretty tame (though there isn't zero entry). OKW and BWV have deep pools and the slide at BWV is a little more intense than most pools (I'm not sure what the slide at OKW is like). You can get life vests for small kids at the DVC resorts, and wearing vests my "little ones" (who are no longer little) were very content at BWV - however, it was a LOT of work for Mom and Dad.
