Exactly how preferred are the preferred rooms at Pop?

We really prefer AoA, and don't really like Pop from the looks of it to tell you the truth. However, knee issues, and I'm just curious as to HOW much closer exactly and convenient is it in reference to the resort dining/transportation.

I can't say much for the preferred rooms at pop. We stayed in a standard room while we were there in 2012 (3 months after I had a scope repair done on my knee) and I never felt like it took more than 5 minutes to get anywhere. I'm tall, but we sauntered everywhere. They were very accommodating of my room requests as well (I asked for first floor and near transportation).

You can probably get away with a standard room in the 90s section of Pop. If we stayed there again, that's the section I would request. Then it's just a quick walk across the parking lot to transportation, food, mug refills, etc. It's also a little quieter and we had the computer pool to ourselves a couple times when we were there.

On our first trip we stayed in the 1960s building facing the lake(not prefered)but it was really, really close to the pool, food court & buses..On our second trip I requested a preferred room and our room was in the 1950s building ground floor facing the pool( very short walk to the food court, buses etc)...

I actually preferred the 1960s building over that one though!!Just liked the 1960s building location better(lake facing room)

I dont remember what section it is but we requested to be close to the playground and we were. We literally walked out and there it was. This was really close to everything (but no noise). We just took the path around the parking lot to the buses and food court.

We stayed preferred at POP a couple of years ago. We were in the 70's building, 4th floor, facing the parking lot. This didn't seem like preferred to me. Preferred to me means right on top of the main stuff like the food court and main pool. Next time if we stay there I will pay for preferred pool view.

I would not pay for a preferred room at POP unless you do a preferred pool room. There are many standard rooms that are just as close as regular preferred.

I have stayed preferred and felt it was very close. We were right by the pool, the bus stops, and the food court. Walking was no issue.

WARNING: I got off the bus in the dark, didn't pay attention to where I was going, and must have walked the entire resort. It's easy to get around in the daylight, but I walked my legs off in the dark trying to get back to that preferred room, because I went the wrong way (okay, so maybe I had been at Food & Wine all day, but still).

Preferred rooms at Pop Century are within a small specific radius of Classic Hall. Preferred rooms in Building 10 (70s facing the parking lot) are closer to transportation than almost any other rooms except possibly a few in Building 6. They're even closer than many of the original Preferred rooms (all of both 60s buildings). They're also very close to the food court - closer than some of the 50s Preferred Pool "view" rooms.

There's a map on the POP resort thread with illustrations of which rooms are preferred and which are not. That may help with some of the explanations in other posts. Take a look:

See post #2 and under "Room Rates & Categories" click on link labeled "Refer to Pop Century 2012 Map".

Thanks for sharing. I guess I am used to the preferred location at AS Sports where I was right on top of the main pool and food court.
