Preferred Room Rates

I've noticed that some of the hotels offer preferred room rates. Do these rates just guarantee a certain location or do they also give you a better view?

We paid for the "preferred" building at Pop Century this past July! My DH & DD love the 1960s and thought it would be cool to stay in that section! Our room overlooked the kiddy pool.

I believe the "Preferred" building just gives you a closer or more convenient location - not necessarily a better view.

We loved the location at Pop Century, and it was a short walk to the food court/bus stop area! But, I really didn't think the resort was that spread out. We didn't request (or pay for) "preferred" for our December visit!

Have a great trip!!!

It really depends on the resort. A preferred room at one of the AllStar resorts would give you a room in a bldg that was closest to the food court and main bldg. A preferred room at a moderate would most likely give you a water view...either a pool, lake or waterway. Are you curious about a particular resort?

We have preferred reservations at the CBR. We have stayed there a few times and have always managed to get a room in Martinique but we were afraid to chance it and thought it might be better just to pay the extra. I know all the rooms are basically the same......I just wondered about the view.

Preferred view is a room location in a building close to the food court/pools/etc.

The value resorts all have preferred locations and Caribbean Beach also has a preferred location. None of the other resorts have a preferred category.

The view is no different than any other room you may have, it is just a location thing.

At CBR it could be water view, courtyard or parking lot view. I wouldn't pay extra for a water view since in some rooms it is hard to see the water since you don't have a private balcony.

Really I am paying extra for the location. CBR is so spread out and it makes it so much nicer to be close to Port Royale. Now if the view is good it will just make it all the better.....but the location is what is important to me.

At all star movies, preferred guarantees you the fantasia buildings. They are supposedly the closest to the lobby, foodcourt, gift shop. They are also supposedly the most popular buildings. We just got back from there, ASMovies, the Toy Story Buzz Lightyear building. It was just as close as the fantasia buildings. The 101 dalmations building also is close. When we checked in they were going to give us the Herbie building - the farthest away - and we asked for Toy or 101 and they were able to get us in there after some work.

If you want a guarantee of what building, go with preferred rooms. If not just book standard. Also, this saved us a few more bucks over stay, pref vs. standard.
