"Preferred" CBR rooms in 2004?

Hello!

I am looking to see if anyone has stayed in a "preferred" CBR room in 2004? This category includes those rooms in Martinique and Trinidad North. We booked this room for May back in 2003 and was told that the preferred rooms cost the same as a king room or a waterview ($159/night, regular season). However, unlike the king and waterview rooms, at that time no AAA discount was applicable to preferred rooms.

So, I am wondering if anyone stayed in one of these rooms in January or February and if so, were you able to apply any discounts to this level of room (AAA, AP or general codes)? It didn't seem quite fair to me that no AAA discount was available. I mean, I know it's a preferred location, but you ARE paying more for it. A waterview is a preferred view and a king is a preferred bed size, and those receive discounts. Hoping that the preferred rooms can be discounted as well.

The only reason that if I can't apply ANY code to our preferred room and a really good code comes out for standard or waterview rooms, I'd be willing to switch buildings in CBR to save big $$ per night.

Any direction or help you could give me would be great!! Thanks!

I just called the other day to get rates for CBR. I was given rates for both their regular rooms and preferred with AAA discount. I'd call back if I were you, and find out about that now. I don't see why a preferred room wouldn't also be eligible for a AAA discount. I'm getting a AAA discount for Polynesian lagoon view, I don't see why they wouldn't give AAA discount for CBR preferred.

Like I said, call them back. They DID give me a rate for AAA discount for CBR preferred view, just 2 days ago when I called!

Thank you SeaSpray! I am actually working with a travel agent, so I will let her know. It kind of surprises me that she hasn't let me know. Of course, I'm hoping that some kind of general code, or maybe even AP code, will come out that will trump that AAA discount but you never know. Any little bit helps!! It seemed kind of silly to be paying full rack rates when there is so much potential for discounts out there.

I appreciate your help with this!!

We stayedi n Trinidad North and loved it. We had a corner room with a king bed. We were so close to the food court and main pool, but it was soooo quiet and peaceful in our section of the resort. You will love it. Good luck calling back and getting a discount. I can't imagine why they wouldn't apply a discount to preferred rooms as well. You're still paying more than you would in a standard room.

That sounds perfect leighe! We are celebrating our anniversary on this trip, so I would love to be able to get a corner room with a king bed and those double windows! Unfortunately I was told when I booked that I couldn't be guaranteed a preferred room AND a king room, but that I could choose one and hope for the other. We chose the location and I am hoping that if we check in early enough, we might get lucky and get the corner room as well! If not, that's OK, but it would sure be a great bonus for our trip.

Thank you for your info! Like I said, I am hoping that a general or AP code would be even better than a AAA code, but if not, we'll live! (and eat a bit cheaper!! ;) )
