Has anyone used preferred or valet parking at Universal/IOA? Which would you recommend, if either. Regular parking is $15, so if valet gets you a lot closer, it might be worth the extra 10 dollars, and easier to get out at the end of the day, any thoughts?

Preferred doesn't really get you closer...you park on the third level of the garage but you still have to walk to CityWalk. Valet is much closer so if walking is a concern, you should spend the extra money.

For the last few years we have stayed on-site and valet at the resort. Before that when we would drive to the parks for the day we would valet park. It gets you just about to the entrance to CityWalk. The last thing I wanted to do was look for a parking space in that huge garage and then have to hike to and from the car. I figure I'm on vacation and I'm going to enjoy all the luxuries I can get.

I just have a quick question. I ordered the Preferred AP and will be picking it up when we arrive in a few weeks. We'll be staying at RPR, but after this trip, we're only planning on day trips to Uni since were only 2 hours away. I know I'll get free parking, but does that include the "preferred" parking? I'm just curious. Thanks!

No...just self parking...Preferred parking is $5.00 for passholders.

We've been to Universal many times and have parked in all three (regular, preferred, and valet). Honestly, the last several times we've used valet because it was just so much more convenient. It does cost a little more, but you're right there when you get there, and it saves such a long walk at the end of the day when you're tired. We really like it! :thumbsup2

thank you horseshoemom, that's exactly what I wanted to hear, it sounds like it is definately worth it. We have a son with a disability and has problems walking for long stretches, we will be using a wheelchair for him but sounds like the valet parking would be a good idea too.

You may want to check on one thing. The valet parking is at the bottom of staircase. There's probably an elevator in the vicinity, but I just don't remember seeing it.

ETA: I just called to check, and guest services said that there is an elevator there. I was sure there would be since they would need to be ADA compliant. :)

Sorry, I meant horseshowmom, not horseshoemom:goodvibes

Believe me, you aren't the first one! :rotfl2:
