I recently dug out our old WDW Unofficial Guide from 2008 and came across a number of predictions that... may or may not have actually materialized, lol. Until recently Disneyland was our "home park" , so I don't know as much about the last 15ish years of Disney World happenings. Did any of these actually come to pass?
1) Honey I Shrunk The Audience will be replaced with a Dreamfinder 3D film. Dreamfinder will be played by Steve Martin, Jack Black or Nathan Lane.
2) World Showcase is getting a new country, reportedly from Asia. The pavilion will include a mythology-themed thrill ride and an interactive area targeted to 20-somethings.
3) The film and the end of Maelstrom will be updated on Disney’s dime.
4) 2009 will bring a Kim Possible-themed interactive game to Epcot.
5) Since 2006, Imagineers have been shooting footage for a new Canada CircleVision film which should premiere soon.
6) IllumiNations will be replaced in Fall 2009 by Skydance with fireworks and laser effects.
7) Pocahontas and Her Forest Friends will be replaced by a show highlighting and upcoming Disney movie: Underdog or South of the Border.
8) Kids will use a PDAs on Kilimanjaro Safari to take notes and pictures of the animals they saw on the ride. Once home, they can download their info/photos.
9) Boat ride/character meal around Discovery Island. Kind of a floating restaurant?
10) A new restaurant (Yak and Yeti) will be opening in the Asia section of Animal Kingdom as part of a plan to keep Asia open later than the rest of the park.
(I know Yak and Yeti is there, but did Asia ever stay open late?)
11) Capturing stuff: you will be given special devices on Dinosaur and Haunted Mansion to “capture”, respectively, dinosaurs and ghosts. You can download these to your computer once you get home.
12) Animal Kingdom nighttime entertainment: a lantern-light parade to premiere in 2008.
