One thing I predict in the technology area is no more electrical wires. I look at all the wire connections I have plugged in and it's a mess. I always say I hope I live long enough in the future when everything will be wireless.
Also gone will be the thick winter coats. They're already working on a material/fabric as thin as wetsuit that will be able to retain the person's own body heat.
I also predict no cash in 100 years. The actual paper money and metal coins will be replaced by debit cards.
These have been "gone" for years. When I was in college I had a neoprene lined wintercoat that was not even a 1/2" thick that was VERY warm. The STYLE today is to have thick, puffy North Face type jackets.
Think of this...
Short term people always overestimate things
Long term people always underestimate things
For example one hundred years ago nobody could have predicted that the internet would be what it is today and that people would be walking around with powerful pocket sized computers(smartphone).
One hundred years from now I can only hope I am still around to see it.
I don't think 30 years ago people would have predicted the popularity of the internet.
I don't see the country moving to a homeschool model at all. I do see more "online" in the classroom offerings happening-especially for specialty classes like foreign languages. Technology will bring a more varied course offering to schools but I do not see schools going by the wayside--especially once all these homeschooled kids are adults.
I think common things like eyesight problems will be eradicated with simple procedures--the advancement of current Lasik surgeries will correct vision problems in all ages, permanently.
I would love to see a wireless society too-as I am looking at all the cords for my computer.
I think we will see people commonly living into the 120's and may even see someone reach 130. Even back in the 70's is was not common to have people live to 100, now it is commonplace.
We already have many, many political parties-only 3 that are commonplace though.
