Pre-purchase question

Hi everyone--

I am currently considering buying SSR direct from Disney. My question is this-- if I do purchase, how long will it be until I can make reservations?? Will I have to wait until all of the paperwork is complete, and it is closed, or can I reserve sooner?

The situation is that I have a couple of trips coming up, and the amount I would spend for rooms for that will be my down payment. My guide said she can check availability if I am interested, but I can't gamble on whether there will still be availability 2-3 weeks or more down the line! Financially, I will have to wait until next year if this is the case...

I am not 100% sure, but I think you would beable to make the res. in day or two after you put the down payment on the points. That was what I was told when we bought in, but that was back in 96.

As soon as you give your Guide a credit card to place a deposit on the purchase he/she can transfer you to Member Services to make a reservation. That's one of the big advantages to buying direct from DVC.

We faxed the paper work back on a Monday along with CC over the phone for downpmt. I was able to book the next a.m. @ 9:00 a.m.

Just to clarify, you don't even need to complete any paperwork in order to make a reservation. When you give a credit card deposit over the phone (usually $500 minimum), that's the point at which DVC assigns a member number and begins to prepare the formal paperwork. Before you even get the paperwork in your hands, DVC will permit you to make a reservation.

The scheduled stay cannot occur until after your closing. So, if anything falls through (or you back out), DVC simply cancels the reservation and they've lost nothing.

Thanks everyone! I hope it will work out (I need a reservation (studio at OKW) in October, so I know it'll be tough-- even 3 days will help, though!!)
