We Are: Myself, Mother of Lynn and proud Grammie of Wade (just turned 8) and Tyler (just turned 5).
Thursday 28: Got to sleep a little later this morning since the kids are signed up for the Pirate Cruise out of the Grand Floridian. We drove over and checked them in. They got pirate bandanas with their names on them and life jackets, and then waited in line until the crew came down. I was a little surprised and disappointed that they werent dressed up like pirates. They gave them the rules (buddy system, stay seated in the boat, etc) and off they went. Felt very strange to be putting the children off and actually being alone for a couple of hours. We went to the Outlet Mall and only had about ½ hour to shop. Went straight to a shoe store where we both got sneakers, then headed back to GF to pick up the little pirates. They came in singing yo ho ho, its a pirates life for me with a lunch and a bag of treasure in hand. Actually, Wade didnt like this too much. He said the crew was mean. I suspect they were just strict about enforcing the rules and making sure the children are kept safe, but a little too much structure for Wade. One of those lets try it at least once things. Went back for a nap and swimming. We stayed in the quiet pool this time. The kids like it better because its not as crowded and its also warmer. The temperature has been in the mid-80s, but it hasnt been humid and its a little chilly when getting out of the pool late in the day. They always want to finish off pool time by going over to the big pool and going down the slide about a dozen times.
We headed over to Ft. Wilderness by boat for the Hoop-de-doo-Review, got there a little early and the kids found a couple of things they wanted to spend their Disney Dollars on, but I didnt bring them, so we promised to come back another night. Once and for all, we were told by the Hoop etc CMs that seating depends on when you made your PS. We were in the second row right up front. Lynn thought Tyler was getting a little feverish and left to get him some baby aspirin. He wasnt acting sick though, seemed quite alert and really thought the show was funny. Both he and Wade thought the corny humor was hilarious, and Lynn liked it too. Its not my favorite thing, but I enjoyed everyone else having such a good time. Tyler especially liked the part where the kind of doofus guy shakes his booty, since thats his own specialty. I told him he could have a job in Hoop-de-doo shaking his booty when he grows up. The meal was really good, I thought. I dont care much for fried chicken but tried one piece that was very good. But I went to town on the ribs, which werent greasy and had a really good flavor. The salad was also real good. In fact, everything was good except for the corn, and I wasnt crazy about the strawberry shortcake. But all in all, the evening was a big success and we got to watch the electric parade again on the way home.
