Hi everyone,

Never thought that I'd be one to ask for prayers and pixie dust, but I am. My wife, who is in the reserves, was notified last Tuesday morning that she "may" be deployed to Afghanistan and to talk with her family about it. Thursday morning, she was told that she is being deployed and to leave for training Thursday night.
She's been at training since then and will be home either Sunday the 29th or Monday the 30th and leave the first week in Feb for 12 months.

This has been a huge earthquake for our family.

We have a 2.5 year old daughter and I'm almost 5 months pregnant with our second child. Because we are a same-sex couple, our California marriage is not Federally recognized, so there's a good chance the military will not allow her to be home for the birth of our baby. She's going to try and schedule her two week R&R during the anticipated delivery date and I hope that will happen.

Thank goodness that Don't Ask, Don't Tell, has been repelled, which means I finally can exist and receive family support and also be notified if (god forbid) anything happens to my DW. The last couple times she's been deployed since 9/11, I had no idea where she was, if she was ok or when she'd be back home. At least this time we'll be able to email each other and hopefully Skype so that our daughter will be able to see her Mom.

Please pray for my DW's safety, both emotional and physical and also that our children adjust to this situation as best as can be.

Thanks.

Monika, we are sending out best wishes to the three of you - and also our thanks to all three of you (its not just the service member that serves) for your service.

Best wishes to you all. Prayers and pixie dust are being sent to you.

Thanks to her for her service. I will think of all of you. I hope she can come hiome for the birth.

Thanks to her for her service, thanks to you for your sacrifices and support. Prayers and pixie dust that everything works out for your family. Wishing you a comfortable and smooth delivery with your wife present.

Your family is in my prayers. Thank you for the reminder that those fighting for our freedom can still be denied the most basic of rights and there is work to be done here at home.

Please know that you can rely on us here for support. Hugs to you all, and thank you to your wife for her service.

Sending lots and lots of hugs, pixie dust and prayers for all 3 1/2 of you! I hope you get a lot of support to help with the difficult transition, and you will definitely get a lot of support here! Hopefully your wife can be home for the birth of your second child. Thank you to all of you for your sacrifices and for your wife's service! :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

Thank you both for your service. You all will be in our thoughts and prayers. There is never a good time to be deployed. Some times seem worse than others. I pray that you will all be safe and healthy and that her deployment will be quick and she'll be home with her family as quickly as possible.

I will be lifting your family in prayer. May God work out each and every detail and give you peace during this time. Thank you for your sacrifice and for your wife's service to our country.

I'm so sorry for the lousy timing of this. Not that there's ever a good time, but some are worse than others!

Thanks to your wife for her service, and to both of you for your sacrifice.

Sayhello

Monica,
Thanks to you both for your wife's service to our country. I will keep your entire family in my thoughts and prayers. Please know that you have a friend in Maryland thinking of you and yours at this time. I loved meeting and getting to know you last month. Congrats again on the new bundle of joy, and I know that all will be alright in the end. If you need anything please don't hesitate to give me a call or an email.

Katie

Hi everyone,

Thank you so much for the support and encouragement. It's amazing how much comfort I've gotten from reading these words during this very scary time.
It's even more significant since I got to meet so many people at the December Event.

Again, thanks and if there's interest, I'll update on my wife's status as I hear from her.

I wish you both good luck, good health and happiness during this difficult time. Thank you for your service, for making the world safer for my family. As I sit in comfort every evening, there are people out there in the most aweful conditions making a sacrifice for us.

Sending our very best pixie dust pixiedust: and good thoughts for you, your wife and your family. I pray she stays safe and is able to come home for the birth of your new bundle of joy!

I, too, am so happy that DADT was repealed so you will be able to communicate during her deployment.

Take care of yourself! Hugs to all! :goodvibes
