Prayers & Pixie dust needed for unexpected military deployment

Monika, I'm so sorry to hear about this unexpected development. Please know you can always come here for support.

I really hope that everything works out with the scheduling of her R&R and your new baby's birth. Please wish your wife a safe trip for us, and thank her for doing such a great job protecting our country.

Also, even though you've got a little one at home and one on the way, please remember to take care of yourself.

I really, really hope DOMA is repealed soon so that your family can get the equal treatment it deserves.

Hi everyone

Thank you so much for your kindness and words of support and encouragement. I am thrilled to announce that the deployment got canceled!

It's a confusing mess of a situation with details that really aren't important, but basically the Commander that my wife was supposed to replace, is going to lead the Company as planned. We were notified of this, less than 5 hours prior to the time that my wife was supposed to be on a plane to Afghanistan! The military really needs to work on their notification strategies.

I'm so relieved and very happy that my wife will be home for the rest of the pregnancy and birth of our second child. My wife is understandably disappointed that after all of the excitement, packing, training and planning to lead a Company in Afghanistan, this has ground to a grinding halt. She loves what she does and was eager to do what she does best.

So, we are adjusting to back to "normal" life and unpacking the mountain of military gear in our living room. in a few weeks, my wife will be sworn in as a Commander of a Company close to our home and for the first time, I'll be allowed to attend the change of command ceremony as a recognized spouse. Pretty awesome.

I just really wanted to express my gratitude for the support and encouragement you all showed me, both on this thread and in messages. It really means a heck of a lot.

Thanks again,

--Monika

Woo Hoo!! Great to hear!! I am sure the disapointment will quickly be replaced by all the upcoming excitement in your lives....

God works in mysterious ways...

5 hours before she left?? Amazing.:scared1:
But in the very best way, of course.

Glad you will all be together for the baby's arrival. And so glad to hear you can attend the change of command ceremony as a military wife. :thumbsup2

Wow Monika, that is great news! I'm sure your wife has mixed feelings since she had likely already resolved herself to the situation. So glad that you will be together when the baby comes.

From this perspective its really good news Monika. I'm sure your wife was disappointed not to get a command overseas, but at least she is getting a command. I'm sure it will be a thrill to be at the cic ceremony in your rightful place. :thumbsup2

Hope the pregnancy is going well.
